Hi gear were a company formally known as Steiner formed just after the war when there was alot of army surplus about. They rebranded themselves as Hi gear a few years ago and were a wholesaler/manufacturer for many years under both names. Sadley 2 years ago they went into liquidation and Gelert bought their name. Hi gear used to supply Argos and many of the independant stores. I know this as I used to work as a rep for them.
Gelert took over their name and now use it as a sole brand for Go Outdoors for their products.
Gelert did/do use a brand for Asda called Scarfell.
