What a nightmare!
Has anyone any tips on doing this without having to tear your hair out?
It's a doddle to erect, a doddle to take down but then comes the nightmare of getting it back into it's supposedly 'oversize' bag. This is the hardest tent we have ever had for getting it back.
Reading the reviews every one praises this tent and I agree with those views, it's a fab tent, but no one mentions how difficult it is to get it back. OH could pack an elephant into a matchbox successfully but even he has struggled with this one.
Any tips from anyone who has one?
I am fairly sure the people next to us in May had one of those, my OH went and helped them get the bag closed. I suspect brute force might have been what he used.
Hi PurpleBean, thank goodness, it's just not us then! If I can't get it back into the bag on my own then I can't use it for solo camping. Unless I get a bigger bag. It's a nightmare. By the way, I am going to Yedmandale in August - 10th -14th , when are you there?
we found it really easy to get in the bag when we used it for the 1st time a fortnight ago. Lying it flat, fold it into thirds then fold again til it is the same length as the bag. Then put the pole bag down on it and roll the full length of the tent squeezing the air out as you go. We keep the bedroom inner attached do you? Make sure you leave a door open also so the air dosent get trapped.
We usually find tents a nightmare to get back in the bag but I managed this one on my own while OH was packing the car, he was impressed when I said it was done! Good luck.

I've only used mine twice. The first time I put it away I could see the folds and managed to get it back in, second time I couldn't see the folds as a guide and couldn't get the tent back in the bag so will follow pager33's folding advice and try again, it's just been stuffed in the garage for now!
It's huge when it's stuffed in a bin bag though! Thanks Pager 33 for the good tips. Will memo them for reference later. One thing I didn't do was open the flaps and I'm pretty sure the door was fully zipped up too. Will remember next time. OH moaned about it been full of air.

Oh Mercuria, you make it sound so simple and I can definitely identify with the 'sweat and grass on the face' job! Have copied and pasted your instructions for next time. Many thanks

I thought it was easy to pack away . Did it the same way as Pager33 . Loads of room in the bag left over too ; yes I did pack the poles in as well
Honestly there is tons of room left ; and that's even with the porch poles ( bought seperately ) in there , not wishing to rub it in but i had to use the compression straps on the bag as well
You do have to squeeze all the air out as you roll it up packing away

We are not going until 23rd. I would love to meet someone from here, it will hapen one day
hi i fold the tent long ways left edge to the middle right edge to the middle do this so it is the same length as the bag . place poles on the tent and roll it up tight if the tent starts going loose un roll and do it again this works for me
Well, it's going with us to a cliff top in Cornwall and I'll let my sister pack it. She seems to have the knack which I certainly haven't . I'll watch closely and advise with the tips given on here. The thing is, I want to use it myself solo and need to get it back.Stuffed in a bin bag it was as big as an elephant's behind. It will come with practice I'm sure (not!)
