Hi,
Off to weymouth on sat so started to pack the trailer tonight.... Thought I would weigh everything as I loaded it. The total so far is 250 kilos without clothes and other bits and bobs. Bet the total weight by the time we are fully packed is pushing 400 kilos.
I made the trailer myself its 6x4 and the suspension is rated to 750 kilos. the trailer weighs 200 kilos so that leaves me with a 550 kilo load capabilty you can see a pic of it in my gallery
Hi we have a 6x4 trailer, with a 750 kilo pay load and have no problem fitting all are camping equipment along with babys high chairs and kids bikes. A word of warning just make sure that your trailer is balanced. A trail run round the block should do. You dont want it to start swaying on the motorway at 60 mph or less.
Kazzy,
Is your trailer braked? If it isnt then the total weight of load and trailer is 750k max... and this is subject to it being no more than half the unladen weight of the car. ie if the car is 1200 kilos kerbside weight the max you can tow unbraked is 600 kilos
WOW..I am amazed... I just spent a pleasant week camping in Holland. I took all I needed and it came to 15 kgs. Yes that is for one person but by that reckoning, the OP had enough gear for 26 people!
I'm increasingly thinking perhaps there should be another forum channel for those of us who keep it minimal. As I have said before, the voice of the backpacker seems to get drowned out by the car campers around here... I do worry that any newbie coming in here tends to get steered to large heavy tents - there is an alternative but it's not apparent on this forum.
