Hi, will you be going in your Monty or a different tent? We used to have a Monty and it is a big old nylon bag of cold air to try to stay warm in.
I'd consider going camping in October if I knew the weather was likely to be fine, if we had a suitable tent and kit, we could be out and about during the day, and could go to the pub in the evening! Not sure I'd fancy taking littlies away then.

Pendle Hill in Yoprkshire hold a Pendle Witch type thing every Halloween.If i recall,it just consists of people meeting there and walking up the hill with lights.I am sure,such a decently organized event,would have food etc supplied,ready for the visitors,but i am unsure.I would love to go along,ask a farmer if i can camp in a field,and join in the Pendle Hill Walk.I don't know,but maybe a local camp site or two may open specially for the event?

Camping in October can be OK, often warmer than March/April. You don't need heaters if you have a decent sleeping bag/mat and the right clothes. Gets dark really early though.
My son went scout camping in January, it was bitter and snowing. From what he was wearing when he came back I think they got up and just put more clothes over what they already had on. Rucksack was empty, he was the Michelin man. He had a great weekend though - so maybe thats your answer, just wear your entire wardrobe.

Camped at Edale in winter back when I was young! We woke in the morning to snow on the tent!
I think in a small tent you keep much warmer. That was in my little 2 man tent. Our hawk still has a low roof to keep the heat close, but some people have BIG TENTS, which must take more time to warm up, perhaps they take dogs/kids etc to keep them warm!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
