returned on friday from a week away camping and are due to go again for another week on mon 10th .
I am absolutely knackered!!!.
We did have horrendous weather and have just put last load of washing in machine and now have at least 2 hours ironing to do to repack for next week.
food to replenish, tent still drying and that needs to be repacked.
Im not moaning as im looking forward to next trip as there will be 12 of us going away but does anyone else feel knackered when they return? I thought it was supposed to be relaxing!.
I felt totally shattered too, but that's probably because I did more on holiday than sitting in front of a desk all week like I usually do. I actually ran around and played cricket and football, which would be unheard of on a normal working week!
------------- Loving our Khyam Ontario 8 with sun porch!
No matter what sort of holiday we have, I am the one left with 5 people's washing and ironing to wade my way through when we get home again. Ironing is the one job I absolutley HATE doing!!
I definately feel like I need another holiday once I've got through that lot!!
Yeh I know what you mean! HEJC72!. Husband thinks hes done his bit by giving the cooker a proper clean and emptying the roof box!!!! . Oh and telling me what food he wants to take next time!!!
Camping is quite a physical activity and I think that is one of the reasons we all enjoy it. It is such a departure from our normal everyday lives. Pitching a tent, getting all the stuff inside, blowing up air beds, even walking across a field or two, to get the the loo, we are active much more than usual. Then of course you may not sleep quite as well as you do at home, or perhaps you wake up early with the light (I could have said 'sun', but that would be stretching the imagination too far) And then there is everything you do whilst on holiday, which is usually outdoors, and the packing up at the end !!
So Yes, I do feel tired after camping, but tired in a nice way, more relaxed, less stressed, but ready for a hot bath and a good nights sleep in my own bed.
I always come home knackered - but still somehow refreshed.
You may think I am absolutely bonkers, but I think I enjoy planning and organising a holiday as much as going! I am miserable if I have nothing to look forward to, so as soon as I'm home I start thinking about the next holiday even if it is months away!
Yeah takes me a couple of days to recoup after camping, must be the fresh air and the physical aspect of camping. Still I would rather do that, then go on a package holiday and sit and do nothing........... boring.
I have to confess that after camping last week part way through we decided to spend a lot more and go to Centre Parcs next week rather than the planned camping trip. We like camping though I don't like it as much as I would like to (if you know what I mean). We now view camping as an activity rather than a restful holiday. I usually only get 2-3hrs sleep on the first night and the kids wake at dawn. By the end of the week they were sleeping later than they would at home but we've all lost quite a lot of sleep by that time. Our lives are so tiring that we can't go camping for a "rest" though enjoy it as a "change" when we have the energy. (Also considering a smaller lighter tent as I still hate packing the beast up.)
------------- From tents to trailer tents to a tin tent to an air tent to trailer tent and back to tin tent!
Is there really any point in ironing for a camping trip?
My t-shirts always look unironed by the time they've been on a long trip in a holdall. I've discovered that if I bring them in before they're bone dry and fold them neatly before they go in the airing cupboard, they really don't look much different. I even manage to get a crease down the sleeve! My trousers and shorts are nearly all non-iron techie fabircs, so I don't do any ironing for going away.
I always come home knackered - but still somehow refreshed.

Yep me to I have been writing lists today for the replenishing of stocks before the next trip on 10th! As with most things the build up is sometimes better that the actual thing!!!

I totally agree, I love the planning and organising (maybe thats cuz Im a control freak lol). We are going to the Lake District on tuesday for 3 nights and more or less everything is sorted, much to OHs dismay as everytime he wants something it packed we are back home for 3 nights and then off to Northumberland next week for 2/3 nights and Im already planning that one and we havent been on the first one yet!!!!
------------- Take only memories... leave only Footprints
June -Skegness.
July - Henley On Thames.
July - Modbury, Devon.
July/August- St Mawes, Cornwall.
August - Cadwell Park -British Superbikes.
September - Skegness.
i must be lucky then, i sleep just as well in the tent as i do at home!
and i am used to a short change round with my shifts, can be days nights days without more than a sleep day off, so i suppose that helps me be adaptable.
I come back shattered as well, but it is a different type of tired than after a week in the office. I am the one who does all the washing ironing and packing - if I left it to Richard I would be lucky to have a clean pair of knickers, I'd have one tshirt, and the pants I was wearing. Pip, and I wouldn't have a thing, Alice, the entire wardrobe - even though all my clothes are dreadful, unfashionable, and very few meet with her approval.
We are off at the end of the month, so I am going to start putting stuff away this week. Makes my life easier if some of the clothes are packed well in advance.
