Got back at the weekend from a fortnight in cornwall - the longest trip I've done since a kid.  Had a brilliant, brillaint time.  Shocking weather but it didn't cause any problems and we had a fab time.  Plus as the weather was so bad, my hayfever wasn't...every cloud and all that!!

I'm also not sure anything beats lying in bed listening to the rain on the tent...I'd have just rather it only rained at night however!  Stayed at some fantastic, quiet, friendly sites (will do relevant reviews shortly) and had a fab time.  Key 'camping' things I learnt this time....

1) I'd forgotten that unpacking is such a nightmare and nowhere near as exciting as packing17;-)

2) Wrote a list out on the way back of things we didn't really use, so to avoid next time.  Reckon it will save a bit of space, but still quite a lot and one day we'd like to take the dog with us - no way that's fitting in the car at the moment!

3) We moved several times - in retrospect next time I think I'd only move twice - one place for the first week, one place for the 2nd - we enjoyed seeing different areas so liked moving, but it was a faff at times.  On the otherhand - we definitely got quicker at doing it as the fortnight progressed!

4) The tent survived really well - especially given the pretty torrential rain on 2 days.  No leaks other than a bit of condensation twice.  I'm impressed

5) Delta's are the best!

6) Trying to work out a weekend for another quick trip is difficult but we'll get there!

Thanks again for all the advice - it was really, really appreciated!

glad you had a good time and still enjoyed it despite the grim weather (aye, we were in the Lakes!) and yes deltas are the best plus we ALWAYS say we will cut down on kit yet this still never happens! Do we really need two first aid kits!!!!!

great to hear that you had a great time, many more to come i hope

unpacking is just the worst task ever isn't it

ive been cheating recently, leaving as much packed in the front room as i can, get the darling son to put the washing on, get the darling daughter to wash any dishes that we've used last minute or on the way home,

everything goes back in the front room and i spend an hour during the week making sure its packed back in its bag/box. ready for the next Friday escape from work, lol

i always take things we don't use, just in case stuff, like lots of tins, biscuits, drinks etc and then we go shopping, lol

two first aid kits?, we just take plasters, antispepic cream and a bucket load of prescribed medication for all of our ailments

have a good trip next time

Sharon
