We've had a Khyam Tourer 200 for a couple of years now and have found it to be the perfect tent for us (couple with car, short stay).  When I noticed that Khyam had stopped making them and didn't have anything that directly replaced it, I started keeping an eye out for a secondhand one we could keep as a spare in case we damaged/wore out the current one.  I recently bought a barely used one from Ebay that was a bargain.

Anyway, it is very interesting to note some subtle differences between the two tents.  I wonder if Khyam tried to reduce the manufacturing costs of the later tent?  One tent was manufactured in 2005 and the other in 2007.

1.  The tent fabric of the 2007 model is considerably thinner.

2.  The secondary door poles of the 2007 model are made of steel rather than the alloy of the 2005 model.  They are therefore much heavier.

3.  The various plastic clips are smaller and less solid looking on the 2007 model.

4.  The ground-sheet of the inner tent is much thinner on the 2007 model.

5.  The guy lines are thinner on the 2007 model.

6.  The material used around 'stress points' is not as solid on the 2007 model.

7.  The 'push-and-click' extension poles are better made and work cleanly on the 2005 model.

I've seen a few comments and reviews of this tent with contradictory points and wonder if this may explain things.

Jo, That's scary - we've stayed at three of the campsites you've listed - The Coates Farm, Roundhill and Mandale Farm!

Our Tourer 400 was second hand and I don't really know when it was made but it is a really good tent and easy to pitch and use - my one complaint is no shelter at the door, hence we bought the Khyam 'roofed' windreak (again a pain with all it's guy ropes).

We bought the Outwell Michigan as a replacement (doesn't need replacing though) and it's a very similar tent but has a porch area at the front (which is a bit useless and needs the canopy to work properly) and sig.
