So I've listed a tent on Ebay, and hoped for a local buyer really but my first hint of interest has come from the other end of the country.
How exactly does one go about posting a tent?! It's about 14kg and I got a ParcelForce estimate for it from ebay, but now I'm panicking about packaging...it's going to need some serious wrapping isn't it!
Help!

Cheers - I didn't even know wheelie bin liners existed LOL!
I feel reassured now.

I know it's not a tent but I got some roofbars from ebay for my old motor. They posted it in that thick plastic sheeting and packing taped it all up as well. It arrived no problems.------------- ----------------------

If parcelforce is too expensive, try using 'interparcel'. They usually seem to be much cheaper, about £8 for up to 20 kilos!-------------

Parcelforce is too expensive - try Parcel Monkey (part of FedEx). I sent a 32kg tent from the Midlands to Leeds, next day delivery, and it cost me £13 - fantastic value for money!------------- JAJAbooth

THE BEST WAY...is to use www.parcel2go.com . They use a selection of courier firms, including DHL, but get rates that are about 1/2 of what you pay if you went to DHL directly. The DHL courier who is booked by parcel2go still collects from your home as normal!

Thanks everyone, and also Lisa for coming here to reply on my behalf - I've had logging in problems, and even now I'm not logged in on my own lappy!
I got quotes from everywhere suggested and Interparcel won by a mile. My tent was collected at half 3 today.
I must say though, I wasn't impressed with the way the courier picked up my 16kg tent by the plastic bag - that's not going to hold for long is it! Let's hope it gets to it's new owner intact!

We always use interparcel, they give you a few options and we have never had a problem with them.
