Whoo-hoo!! My Dutch canvas tent arrived Saturday so I decided to brave it and takej ust my 6yr and 4yr on my own to spend our very first night's actually under canvas! I pitched the tent all on my own to which I was congratulated by a fair few campers later on and WOW-The difference is madness!! I could actually breathe when I went inside the tent even though it was scorching outside and it was so great not waking up to a tent full of condensation! Also no flapping of the tent either so got some quite good rest Reckon I will be planning many more weekenders just so I can used my Dutch beauty and not the bigger Vango.
Oh and another thing-the difference in the groundsheet was ridiculous, was soo strong and thick, love it :)
There is nothing quite like a Cotton tent, why so few tent shops here in the UK have them is beyond me.

You would be suprised how cheap you can pick them off ebay in the "closed" season, i have 3 Cabanons all bought used once 2 cost a third of new price and one for 40%.
I always collect and check before handing over cash.
Money to some extent but the ESVO stuff (which I only discovered the other day) looks pretty inexpensive.
I think it's another case of British people taking what they're given and being taken in by the marketing people rather than being a bit more demanding and discriminating.
These great big whizzy polyester contraptions which take hours and loads of people to pitch are all very well but give me a proper tent any day!
Having said that, my nylon Crux Storm is pretty good but it's a well designed specialist tent which only comes out for hill walking for which it's intended.
Glad you like your new tent, if I could justify it I'd get one myself!
I bought a Cabanon on Ebay too. I think this year there will be loads of tents and camping equipment bargains on Ebay coming soon. All the new campers this year who decided to stay at home and try camping instead of going abroad. A lot of them may have lost heart and decided camping was not for them due to the weather not been as good as predicted.

I think plenty of people are wary of e-bay. But I agree with you.
Nice to see a former Evolva doing well for herself!! Canvas is the way forward for the future-the Evolva will be my last nylon tent. Me and ebay will be well acquainted over the coming months !!
