Thought there'd be no more camping weekends away for me this season but have managed to arrange things so that ds and I can have 3 nights away at half term - yippeeeeeeeeee!!!!! 17

Just booked at The Orchard campsite in Suffolk - have heard great things about this site and looking forward to having a campfire 17

I know several of you lovely folk have been there - any hints, tips or advice?

Will be testing out the nevada i think this time - small, cosy and SIG which will be good in October - BUT....... will I regret not having canvas? I've booked EHU and we are well set up for the coldre weather - went last october and braved hailstorms etc. Actually I really like off season camping - nothing nicer than being snug inside the tent when it's cold and dreary outside. Just hoping it's not too windy.

I am very jealous. I don't think we will have time to fit another trip in, and I am sure my OH would refuse to go anyway as he would say it would be to cold. Have a great time and I will just have to look forward to next spring.

i feel i have to settle my demons before packing up for the winter. the last trip i had my side of the tent collapsed- whilst my grandkids slept- for an hour ! the tent collapsed my side and i spent an hour holding up the tent till my hubby came to rescue me!!He doesnt do anything without all mod cons so he leaves me ,daughter and two granddaughters to do our "tent thing"and goes back to civilisation!  We will be going to a very local campsight in a few weeks-Conkers south derbyshire. We have been before and loved the peace and quiet of the site  .We have a new tent thanks to Skandika and really i am looking forward to the trip. I just wished I didnt keep waking up in a cold sweat thinking about trying to pack up in a gail force wind.

I haven't booked anything for half term yet ( we were thinking of going to clippesby again but have been umming and arrring over it) Did mention to the OH about another outing here as we have been to the Orchard off season before, TBH i prefer this site when it is quieter.

The fires are a lovely touch and although there are open fields to one side, there has never been issues with wind (ooh- err) when we have been there and TBH have never took the windbreak out of the bag at this site...

Only thing is, you may want a pitch at the top of the hill as it wil be quite a trek to the loo's otherwise!!!

Never know we may see you there..
