Hiya, well I have finallly decided to use the tent we brought 7 years ago!! We have booked 4 nights away next month and have decided that it would be wise to practise putting the tent up and taking it down again a few times before we go. However the instructions taht are on the bag are a bit vague and I was wondering if anyone knew of a helpful site etc to help us out a bit?
The tent we have is a Vango Venture 500 so it is quite an old one and I cant find it on the Vango site :(
Hubby is in the garden as we speak getting agitated with it pmsl
It's a lovely tent, but it's no longer made. You can get them second hand on ebay now and are still very popular.
Without being there I'm not sure what you're struggling with.
There's three poles. The two longer ones cross like an X to make the dome. There'll be 2 straps underneath which has pins at each end - which fit into the bottom of the flexipole. One side will be easy, the other needs a bit more pressure to make it into a crescent shape...and upside down U.
Two poles that make up the dome, then one pole that makes up the tunnel type entrance and, depending on model a funny little pole that goes inside to hold up the inner bit of the tunnel.
Put together the poles, you'll have two the same length, they go through the sleeves to form the dome, I think one goes through a loop at the top but I can't remember clearly - just make sure you look at the top to see if it matters which pole goes through first.
Then feed the shorter pole through the sleeve at the front.
The pins go into the bottom of the dome poles and they can be a bugger to put in - just persevere with it.
look at that page and print out the pitching instructions and watch the pitching video, the tent is very similar to the VV500 so that should help a lot
