Quote: And we too have a tick list before we leave home, use the same one every year. I drive OH mad choosing a pitch, trying to calculate where the sun might be in the morning, to dry the tent, and which direction the wind is blowing.
Hahaha I have one of those too! I spent ages doing it in Excel with columns for 'grouped' items, and little boxes for me to tick off! But I am a computer programmer and therefore a total geek lol.
I'm also a bit 'anal' about sweeping the tent out. Tent has to be swept at least once every day, and again when packing up. The best bit is that until last weekend I hadn't camped for 10 years, but I've got straight back into those habits
Anne - you know you want to and he IS very cute. Doesn't take up much space and so useful for picking up crumbs from the tablecloth (another 'anal' thing for me, but it is PVC not linen!).

And I thought I was mad!! I spend ages when packing the tent away - counting the poles (and drying them!) count them as I take the tent down and count again when I put them in the bag. Wrapping the guy ropes up in a certain way so that next time I get the tent out it is easier. I also have to roll the tent up in a specific way so it is much easier to use next time....
I also make a rule of no food/drink in bedrooms - not OCD, just sensible!
Well I haven't camped for about 5 years or so, & as I'm now 30 (well, almost 31) my adult camping was a bit of a festival type affair. I'm horrendously anal around the kitchen at home, I honestly believe I am the only person in the entire world who knows how to wash up properly (ie. rinse everything in hot water before it goes on the drainer, & that's just for starters!) I wonder how this will translate to camping, I do like th "a place for everything & everything in its' place" philosophy, & I was in "go outdoors" yeaterday when I saw these neat little sets with a few ultra strong pegs, a mallet & (low & behold) a mini dustpan & brush!!! I really want one, but after reading these posts, & knowing my nature, I'm not so sure it's a good idea!
