Having recently gone back to camping under canvas from having a caravan, we've got our self’s a Curlew 6 tent, and see every ones talking about having added a footprint for their tents, (we called it a ground sheet when we started and Adam was a lad). My OH is convinced we need one for it and Wynnster don't seem to do one (possible due to being an out of date model), so I'm wondering if any one knows of a similar footprint designed for a similar tent or make. I have suggested we get a ground sheet and cut it down, but she says she would prefer a proper or close fit if posable.
If wynnster dont do one, its highly unlikely that another tent will be the same dimensions as yours , so then its just easy to make your own. it IS only an extra groundsheet after all. handy for keeping the underneath of the SIG clean. so you only have the footprint to clean, not the attched sig.
A B&q builders tarp and a pair of scissors.
You cut it just an inch or 2 smaller than the outline of the tent to stop rain running in under the tent.
You can put some eyelets in the corners if you want, or a square of ductape to reinforce where you will peg through. . I've never bothered, I just peg throught the tarp at the corners, and they last me a couple of seasons with regular use. they dont fray when you cut them, theres no need to reinforce the edges .
I don't know if the curlew has a sewn in groundsheet though ?
If its not a SIG, then leave the tarp a good bit bigger all around and let it come up inside the tent walls to help stop any draughts.
The Curlew do's have a SIG, and I have to agree with you and my OH (now She Who Must Be Obeyed ), keeping it clean & giving extra protection to the SIG make sense (I know most men don't have any ). So I'll be getting a tarp and cutting it down with the 2" gap a round it as advised.
