It's my youngest's 10th birthday today, with one thing and another i'd left it late buying her presents and i didn't have a clue what to get her and she didn't know what she wanted.
Jokingly i suggested a tent and she jumped at the idea, originally i was just going to get her a pink regatta pop-up from Argos, but all out of stock. So i trawled the internet for ideas, had a few cryptic conversations with her, during which i learnt she loves those tents that look like that (holding hands above head like an A).
I found a Vango Juno 300 in fandango & raspberry from Outdoor World and ordered it for next day delivery. Great service from Outdoor World, email updates as to order status, and tent delivered this morning as promised, well packaged too.
So now i'm stupidly excited over a cute little pink and purple nylon tipi that isn't even mine I've had a quick peek to make sure all is well and it looks very cute but i'm going to restrain myself until daughter is home from school so she can be in charge of erecting it.
I think i need to get out more
Sounds like she will have a lovely birthday. I remember buying my daughter a tent and little stove & cookset for her 12th birthday - only boring green. She was delighted when she and a friend camped in garden.

Thats a really great idea! I'm looking for a treat for my 12 year old dd. I'm an excessively proud mum today because she brought home the best school report you could imagine! A tent and cookset might be the way to go.
What a fantastic idea! My DD is 11 July 4th but is in a dance show all that weekend so no party/friends over this year which she's fine with. A tent and set up would be fab fun to do a belated bday celebration with her friends. But DH may nto be happy with yet another tent!! Lol!
Wishing your daughter a very happy 10th birthday today mkn! Penblwydd Hapus Iawn!
------------- It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.
I bought my son a Vango Delta 300 for his nineth birthday so he could invite friends along when we went camping. He was utterly thrilled and it's been used a lot for that but it also comes out for Cub and Scout events, and for him to take along when he visits other pals on their camping trips. He's 13 now and he's still dead chuffed to be able to say "Oh I'll bring my own tent", lol. It's a very fine little tent as well and can take a lot of weather.
I did suggest the same to DD (she'll be nine this autumn) and she curled her lip and said "Actually mum I'll just use your Vango Odyssey"...which is a £300 mountain tent and MINE, I'll have you know. She always was too smart for her own socks, that girl.

My DD has a birthday on 4th July too, last year she cose to go camping in the New Forest instead of a party....this year she wants to go again.....school have kindly provided an inset day. Last xmas I got them an argos tipi for Garden camping
I happened accross a couple of lovely little pop up tents on the funky leisure website. One has a crawly bug pattern and one has a celtic knot/skull and crossbones pattern. I really like the latter, but as DS is only 3, there's no real reason to get one...although they are in the sale section....lol
I've already got a Delta 300 in the shed, but I know she'd like a pop up in a bright colour, and the Delta is mine, for scout camps. The only problem is I expect she'll start demanding to take 'her' tent instead of going under the bed in the tt!
Well, my daughter came home from school...I wonder what that can be?????
Ta-daaaa....
Excuse the state of my garden, the grass and weeds seem to have exploded overnight.
My daughter was chuffed to bits with the tent, we pitched it together, and she did most of the pegging. She then filled it with all sorts and played in it with her cousin for a while.
We love the colour, so bright, i think it's mostly just going to be used for playing in, but we might take it next time we camp at our local site for her to use with her sister, not much usable space inside for sleeping in though and the doors don't fasten along the bottom so a bit draughty, but i'm wondering about getting some velcro for that.
We've had to leave it out as it's been raining, i'll probably find half the neighbourhood cats in it tomorrow morning!
