If your coolbox then has a 240v option you can plug it straight in to the EHU Diane has linked to.

If it only has 12v you'll need this transformer

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it

All you need to run a coolbox is an EHU like thisthis

I would think a 'service' pitch would also have water (for a caravan) which you probs won't need so you might want to check it out as normally for camping you just need an EHU pitch which might be cheaper.

Most camping stores sell the EHU units. Just make sure you get a 'proper' one not one someone on Ebay has knocked up in their garage. You should expect to spend between £35-60 for one with three sockets. If you are going abroad you may need convertors.

The go-oudoors one Diane linked to is a bargain and is similar to the one we have and paid around £25 more for. However, if I was buying again, I'd look for one where the sockets are not in a line line that as the plugs get in the way of each other,. especially mibile chargers etc. You can get them in a triangle arrangement. If cost if the biggest consideration then the GO one is a steal.

edit I found one at a good price here

One of the triangular ones Christine mentions is the one we use, available here, although at not such an attractive price as the 3 in line.

It sits on a shelf out of the way and we can use the 3 sockets fine with whatever we need to plug in.

The sparkies on here will say it's RCD is slower to trip than most of the 3 in line ones, so not as safe. Yer pays yer money etc

I recently got one from Camping & General which has the sockets a bit further away from each other than the 'standard' straight ones. Its triangular in shape which the cable wraps around (came with 20m cable) and was cheaper than the straight ones (£39)

Hi. You will find the power pack will only last a few hrs at best. 12v cool boxes draw quite a lot of power. They are certainly not designed to run a cool box. Hope this helps.

Martin.
