My bell tent is currently being sold to one of my friends so that I can change to the 5M ZIG version. Just waiting for another business trip over to Germany to go and buy it.

yes there was plenty of room with the inner. there wouldve been enough room for OH and the other 2 kids even with the travel cot. i think not having designated 'beds' makes it a lot easier! (apart from the cot of course!)
i have 5 kids, and had this in mind when i bought the tent, the inner makes it a bit more comfy at night, and hides the rubbish during the day!!!

if you don't want to roll the sides up of the bell tent, just opening the little windows makes a difference. i didn't realise that it would be better to peg the guys further away from the tent. to be honest, at the campsite we were last at, there wouldn't have been room, the pitches were so small. i'll remember that for next time!

I think good quality canvas tents,including bell tents went out of fashion because people have been brainwashed into believing that huge,plastic,poorly made Chinese tents that collapse in the wind and heat up like blazes at the slightest hint of sunshine,are better.

Well I do agree with the polyester, price over practicality, but Bell tents went out before the advent of Poly, The reason was Ridge and Frame are the better design.
ridge and frame tents do have more usable space, but you can't pitch them as fast as a bell tent. which makes the bell tent an ideal weekend tent for a family, and definately has enough space for a couple

Low dome/tunnel tents are infinitely warmer - which is obviously better in cooler temps. Also, bell tents are heavy and cumbersome.
That said, I love our bell tent, but get very cold in it out of season - it's a summer tent most definitely (unless you have a heater) but to be fair, I am a 'cold' person.
I actually think pitching it is no more time consuming than any other big tent - patrol tents are far more difficult.
Guys are everything in this type of tent - it's fine to have them close to the tent in good weather, but to be honest, it's no more trouble to peg them further away and then you're set for whatever the weather throws at you. As a pp said - get the tension right - you really shouldn't hear any actual billowing - wind can be loud enough without the canvas blowing around.
Downsides - they seem to collect a lot of condensation during the night, and there's the age old problem of dropping a wet tent - in this case, it will be a very very heavy wet tent indeed, and you will need a big garden to dry it out when you get home.

Just noticed something, a recent review on the tent on the Obelink site was left by someone in Ireland,yet they say they don't deliver there either. Is it worth a phone call ? I mentioned earlier that I read Obelink would sell to a UK buyer if they arranged their own courier, might also be worth investigating if you are determined to have one. I've nothing against belltent but in the end they are just middle men and I'd much rather deal with the supplier as surely this would be quicker than having a go between.

Thanks all. Just twigged re Belltent.co.uk maybe being a sole UK distributor. Can understand now why Obelink won't sell to us :( I think they did sell to some Irish/UK folk but after reading another forum I think theyve stopped that now.
Hi hlk01, I'm in Ireland and have a 4m bell tent from Obelink. I got it last year and they delivered it to me with no problems. I'm not sure if they have stopped that now though.
