My question for today is......
We normally camp in a vango sungari 600 with xtra large canopy which is great for the 5 of us, however i am venturing out on my own with my own three kids and one other for the first few days of the summer hols. The problem is there is no way i can put the tent up on my own so i am taking my 2 man vango tent, another 2 man pop up and a quechua 2seconds xl. Easy so far but what do i do when it rains.
Do i buy a quecha base or use a pop up gazebo, any other suggestions including tarpaulins etc gratefully received
the first thing that came to mind was maybe there could be someone on site to give you a hand with your main tent. a call to the site could be worth while especially if the kind helper gets a drink out of it lol

they are old enough to help but i am also hopeless, i have kind of made up my mind im not taking my large tent, i just want advice re gazebo or awnings really
I am sure that someone on the site will help will be only too happy to help, do not be afraid to ask as some might not want to interfere where help is not wanted?
Hope that makes sense!

Look into my eyes, not around my eyes but into my eyes
Get a bell tent! I can put ours up on my own with the help of my 5 and 7yo - and I only need them to help me get the last section of the pole in place.

I'd re think and take the big tent. Even if you don't ask for help there'll be somebody who offers if they see you struggling. You'll be more comfortable in the long run.
I also think if the kids are big enough to help, take the big tent, you will have somewhere to sit all together when the weather is not nice .Also you may have to pay for 3 pitches with the 3 small tents
Go for a practise pitch , in the garden or local park or wherever you can fit the tent .
you are not hopeless , you just havent tried it yet , you can do it, with the help of 4 kids.
gazebos are dangerous on a campsite . they are not designed like tents, they are for sheltered garden situations , they blow away in high winds and could damage other tents/ cars/ caravans. are you prepared to compensate someone if your gazebo blows away and damages someone elses property?
I had the unfortunate experience of fighting with a gazebo when the wind gotstrong in the middle of the night. It was a nightmare trying to hang on to it to dismantle, the poles snapped and were like razors and it canme dangerously close to the tent next door, despite 6 of us hanging onto it. .the gazebo was ripped to shreds, and if we hadn't been able to hang onto it, it would certainly have blown into the tent next to us.
A lot of sites won't accept gazebos for this reason.
Hi, we have got a Vango Zetes 4 man as our overnight and weekend tent and have got the Vango adventure tarp to go on the front of it. OK, its not the same as a big tent but you can cook under it if its wet.
What about a day tent? They are expensive but its something I have considered. I wouldnt be brave enough to put up a big tent on my own with kids.
