I've just been camping with 'girls' (actually called women - they're not kids) who camp in the same style I do. Definitely not glamping.
I can agree that I'd roll my eyes - wouldn't like to bring too much aethetics to the camp... time to light the fire for dinner or time to arrange bleedin' fairy lights? 
Each to their own and all that...
Guess i must be a 50yr old 'kid' then, and long may it continue. 
My 4yr old grandaughter loves our butterfly lights, says they take her bad dreams away (she has night terrors) so worth there weight in gold.
