I have a problem with camping and my height, I was wondering what anyone else does - please........

I thought we had finally cracked the 'how to get every thing to the site.'

We had always used my Meriva and roof box and just crammed it in. Last week we used my husbands new (to him) car, which we choose bacause of camping. A Citreon C4 grand picasso, with my roof box.

Brilliant, kids had space, I could take clothes etc.

Unpacking yesterday I came upon a problem - my husband packed the roof box there and back , he's 6'2". I tried to help but at 5'2" couldn't get to the roof box to use it. Not a problem when I go with him - but I was planning on taking the kids camping on my own ,leaving him at home (and work).

What to do? Anyone else with the same problem?

I'm 2 inches taller and would struggle to reach a roof box. What about taking a folding step stool obtainable in many stores, or even a small step ladder? Also a reacher/ gripper as sold by mobility shops and Halfords are useful.

Taking a small plastic step helps, and to get one of those gripper thinghy so that you can grab the items from the far side.

Loading is less of a problem, just unloading IMHO, and I am only 5'2.

i'm only 5'2 and take a small pair of lightweight step ladders with me. I use them so I can reach into the roofbox and so I can reach to put the caravan awning up

I'm 5'1" and always finding a problem when height is an issue. I too use oneof those folding steps and find it really useful for those 'high' bits.

Are your children small enough to lift up so they can reach and grab things?

Thanks Bob,

Seems quite a common problem then. I was grabbing the roof rails whilst stood on the car seats.... So not a good look.
