So decision finally made re: Aerobed. Next in line, cooking........
After seeing how much everyone raves about Cadacs, I've decided to get one. But which one? There are 4 of us (2 adults, 7 year old and 3 year old). Currently get by using 2 suitcase stoves and Lidl camping BBQ.
Is the Safari any good? Is it big enough to cook for the 4 of us? How small does it pack up? The Safari is £59 in Tesco - will I need anything else to go with it?
I'm assuming that I'd still need one suitcase stove for boiling kettles etc, so some space in the boot will be saved by not taking the BBQ of the other stove.
I personally do not believe the Safari Chef HP version can do BBQs.
If you intend to use the Cadac for BBQs, then I would strongly advise you to get one that use LP as in a portable gas bottle with regulators etc...
As for whether it is sufficient for 4 people, it really depends on the type of food that you cook and the quantity required.
Again, personally, the Safari Chef HP is just right for 2 people, more than that and I would need to use another cooker to supplement it.
Hence I am going to get a Coleman F1 stove, most likely to be the one with the highest output and best wind resistance, as it uses the same type of gas canister as the Safari HP, which means I do not need to carry a separate type of gas for it.

We have same sized family with ages the same. We use the Cadac Carri Chef Delux as it has all the requirements you would every need from a camping gas appliance. BBQ goes without saying, Skottle (excellent for breakfasts, and frying), griddle good for meats and dry frying, and pot stand for the kettle!
We tend to use the Cadac for all food prep when camping. Only thing it doesn't do very well is toast, but hey it's only a week for so.
I would say the Cadac Safari is rather small and would probably be a bit of a squeeze to get four decent burgers and 8 sausages on!
I have the Carri Chef Deluxe including the paella pan and am very pleased with it but a few comments:
i) I've never used the skottle but I'm told it's a bugger to clean. Other than stir fries, I don't really see that it does anything the paella pan won't.
ii) I would imagine the fat tray would be difficult to clean after using for barbecues but I've had no experience of it as I don't "do" barbecues.
iii) The paella pan is great for doing breakfasts and will do toast ok.
iv) You can boil a kettle on the pot stand in no time at all.
v) It'll roast excellent jacket potatoes.
vi) Not sure the griddle thing will do anything the paella pan won't.
vii) The bags in which the bits come are useless and will split or the zips will go as soon as look at them.
viii) Take care when you clean the burner bit, it's got sharp edges.
ix) The non-stick coating of the paella pan scratches really easily so get some plastic utensils.
I have the Carri Chef Deluxe and it took aaaaages to boil a kettle of water using the pot stand. Maybe I did something wrong, but even by putting it directly on the silver bit in the middle (without the deflector, pot stand etc.) it still took ages.
