Just Prey that the met office have got it wrong kid................ if not just try and pitch next to a massive tent for a windbreak if possible and use your car as well as a windbreak - good luck and hope you have a nice holiday..
Had worse than that at Cae Du! Tent stood up really well. As said, use the car and other tents as shelter and camp near a wall or hedgerow. We're going to Whitby on Friday (Sunset View I think it is) so I hope you have a good time and tell us all about it when you get back! x
If you have pup tents use those for the first night and then when the wind dies set up your bigger tent next day, you could always just hold of a day until the weathers more settled but i wouldnt just pull out and spoil your break
I think ritchie rich idea is a good suggestion. Also it is folk week in Whitby so all of the B&B and hotels will be fully booked should you need one in emeregency. My uncle dances in the whitby folk festival every year, and without fail the weather is always bad- a little tip for next year- avoid that week.
Trouble is its forecast heavy rain every day, and strong wind for three of the four nights and gusts of upto 42mph on friday when I should be packing away (alone).
Can't you head off in another direction? I found lots of sites today when I was looking that aren't booked up. I'm off towards Salisbury, staying at Pewsey tomorrow. Weather looks good that end. Or the Peaks in Derbyshire? x
the weather reports may be wrong as as it seems the south /south east are gonna be hit and as suggested pitch smaller tent for first night if the wind is up
So what big tent were you going to take? The Wynnstar has a good smooth profile, if you pitch it bum end into the wind and guy it down well. I'd keep the rear air vent shut though, even if I had to stick a bit of gaffer tape over it. I wouldn't chance the Quechua in 35+mph winds.
