I have been packing the camping gear into our volvo estate with a roof box aswell and its a tight fit so I am thinking of getting an erde 122 with hard top. The reason is we are looking at getting another dog so would need the boot for the dogs. Will I be able to get most of the contents of our boot into an erde 122?
Personally I'd look at getting the biggest trailer you can afford. Ours is 6x4 or 7x4 I think and still needs to be bigger as we just tend to leave more of the optional stuff in it. If your somewhat handy just buy 2nd hand and refurbish and extend it yourself.

get as big as you can afford and with the volvo you wont have much trouble pulling it
as i dont know what you have in your boot i cant tell if it would fit in the trailer the erde 122 can carry 400kg so should be ok

We nearly got a 122 but went for a 142 instead. I'm very glad we did as it fills up quick. We also got the height extender too.
Bought a second hand Erde 102 to take camping a fortnight ago as the 2 kids are practically balancing on STUFF when we go camping with just the Mondeo estate.....
Dunno whether this encouraged me to take more than I normally would but the trailer and the back of the Mondeo were full and STILL the kids were a bit crammed in!
I went through all the stuff deciding whether anything was really 'excessive' but really we used everything we took...
So be warned! Inexplicably your kit will expand to fill the space available...and some!
I have an arde 122 which is plated to 400kg but you would never get 400kg of camping gear in the available space. You could get the extension sides for it but as others have advised get the biggest trailer you can provided you have storage at home for it.
We have an ERDE 122 with the hard top and everything except the tent clothes and bedding fits in, however, I would agree if you can afford the next size up get it. The trailers are very lightweight and better to be too big rather than too small.

we have an erde 122 with a hard top, and a large roof box. We get the portaloo, the two underbed storage boxes, that have kitchen bits in, another crate with the ehu, lights, pump, and other bits, we get the swingball, the cooker, the bucket and gas bottle, the tent carpet, the airbeds, the table, the chairs, the footprint and the tent. Oh the water carrier too, so we have clothing in the car, bedding and the kitchen stand go in the boot, and bobs ur uncle. Lol, but to be honest, it'll do, but i wish we had the size up. But the bigger the trailer, the more stuff you can take.....
Go for the biggest trailer you can afford, our erde 143 with high sides and hard top and a roof box and it's maxed out leaving the three way fridge and clothes in the car.
