I am getting some multi-colour fairy lights and bunting for my new tent, and am going to attach them using 10mm velcro cable ties.
I thought about using traditional cable ties at first, and the idea of having to cut them off when packing up does not appeal.
Hence I opted for velcro ones, and they are reusable too.
Got them on eBay for just over 1.00 GBP a metre with free postage and packing. Can be cheaper if buy in longer lengths.
Bought both black and white ones in case I need both.

£1.99 for 20 - they look white in the picture but they're actually clear and only slightly bigger than they appear in the picture so much smaller than normal pegs. They also sell some really nice battery operated fairy lights (pictures don't really do the silver ones justice) and some pretty seat pads.
I wrap lights around the pole of the bell tent, but also use velcro ties as per DK - good long strip is cheap and makes lots of ties. I love cable ties, but the velcro is so much better for this.
