Val: fantastic set up, and to me that's what 'glamping' means - glamourous camping, pure and simple.

Give me your address and I'll send you my copy of Derrida's 'Mumblings - the really interesting bits' .
To me glamping is as soon as your tent starts to resemble your home with all the mod cons....camping is leaving all that behind with only the necessities to be relatively comfortable for a few nights.
Yes its an ugly word, but you have to admit that there has been a big change in recent times in how some do the whole camping thing. So I can understand its existance.

The first bit is my own definition too. The second bit - well I actually think it's a good word ! It's to me just a quick snappy way of summing up what it means to me -ie the first bit
Interesting thread, I must drop by here more often ! Btw I'm a reasonably basic camper but don't care what anyone else does really as long as they're not bad neighbours.

Its all about comfort for oneself surely. Thank heavens we all have our own individual tastes or the world would be a very boring place. Where would we all get our fix of nosing at other peoples set ups if everyone had the same!!!
------------- Enjoy life whilst you can, it doesn't last for ever!!!!!!
you can have one, though passing pers details online is a big no no! send a sae to ukcs and they send you one free! i was out at 11 last night putting it in the window, looks lovely!
sorry scep, tot off topic and i promise no more sticker talk!!
To me, holidaying whether it's camping, staying in a hotel/B&B in this country or flying abroad is as diverse as life itself - we all have different lifestyles, some of us have big posh houses, others of us have smaller ones, likewise with cars, some like flashy ones, others don't care as long as it gets them from A to B.
You can spend £200 or less and go abroad, stay in a slummy hotel room sleeping in a bed that's had countless people in it before doing god knows what or you can spend £1000s on a luxury holiday (still sleeping in a bed which 100s have before you, again doing god knows what LOL)
So it stands to reason that camping is going to be diverse as well - we're only just starting out, we're relatively new to it, and so far we've only got the actual tent and a few other bits, but I'm loving reading up about everyone's set ups on here...somethings I'm not fussed about eg I'm not bothered about a fan heater, TV or microwave while camping to be honest, but I don't condemn anyone else for taking them.
Life would be very boring if we were all the same :o)
At the end of the day, it's all about respect - I don't care what set up my future neighbours will have when we're camping, so long as they let me enjoy my hard earned holiday!
