When I've taken my children to one of those all activity sites all I've heard for a week is 'I want I want' and it works out very expensive by the time you've got the yard of soft drink, been to the toy shop and given in to the demands for sweets and junkfood.

So on top of those crazy prices you'd have to fork out for all the other extras. You might venture a go at a cheaper site with less activities, but the freedom to run and play.

I completely agree. The other thing I noticed about those sites are that every single activity is usually surrounded by an amusement arcade or other remove money from parents wallets/purses type of outlet.

Ah you're not a mean enough mummy!

My kids very rarely ask for anything on days out or on campsites, I've drummed into them from a very early age when we had season tickets to Gullivers Land and went every couple of weeks that it costs a fortune to get into these places so once we are there its picnics, drinks & sweets we've brought ourselves etc. I guess getting them when they were young (3 and 4) helped. Now they just assume we won't buy them anything LOL and pack their own mini-backpacks with goodies from home/tent.

By the way, River Dart do NOT enforce their quiet policy - at least not to my standard. We suffered a couple of very rowdy parties while we were there at Whitsun a couple of years ago.
