I had one done straight away in store with a copy of a newpaper advert although this was at the point of purchase and not a refund on a previous sale.
I think most stores are used to doing them most days and rarely do Head Office get involved unless it's really big. I used to manage a large retail store and we had so many price matches I used to let the shop floor supervisors do anything upto £50, they never reached me or my deputy never mind Head Office.

They price matched and paid £242.99 5 mins later on the phone, BARGAIN!!!!!!!!
I bought a Vango tent a few weeks ago. In store at £149. Went on my phone in store, checked a few websites and found it for just short of £120.
Went to the counter, showed the phone screen, they checked the site online and gave me price match and 10% there and then. It cost me just over £100 - bargain.
I got my Monty awning by price matching in store with Outdoor Action, Blackburn at the end of last season - got £50 off it!! Also got my Outback grill from GO in same way - matching with Robertdyas.com! Planning on doing the same with my next 2 purchases... !!!!!
