hello, we are about to purchase a bear lake 6, just wondering what to do when birds mess on the tent, or when mess from trees lands on it, do you simply wipe off with water to stop the canvas staining, i hope we have chosen the right tent this time, we went from a monty 6, to a cabanon, great tent but cant cope without a sewn in grounsheet, the cabanon had a pvc roof so clening was no trouble, thanks in advance for any awnsers, ps, is pitching easy?, kind regards, gary
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN8SMhi1iXg, This shows how quick you can pitch a Bear Lake, and best way, as for birds mess, wipe off with warm water, or just leave it to dry then brush off
Where are you buying your BL6 from......They are available from Outdoor World for £750, so print off the web page and get down to Go Outdoors and get a price match then 10% off. You should get it for £675. I got mine last year for £630 but i took a price match in from Camping and Kite Centre for£700. Only just done a 4 day break in mine but it was awesome. Stayed at Gibralter Farm on the coast near Morecombe, got damn windy at times, but the BL6 didnt budge. Got bird crapped on twice to, but just wiped off with warm water.....Happy shopping.
Just water will do it fine. The Bear Lake is a lovely tent. It is easy to pitch, and very stable due to the tensioning bars. The only thing we found was that one of the clips to attach the inner tent was missing and upon googling, this seems to be a common problem. We are just going to fix it ourselves, but it's worth checking when you first put it up (back, centre of the bedrrom pod).
It often takes us an hour to pitch as novices, but if you watch the Yeomans video I am confident that I could do it on my own - but I find it quite handy having a useful 8 year old around to hold things in place.
we have the wolf lake 7 and it takes us approx. an hour to put up. We each read the instructions of how to put it up and found that it didnt work that well for us. The best advice we got, was to watch a video of someone putting it up on you-tube. We found it sooo easy after watching that! We've had our tent a bout 3 or 4 years now and have had bird poop on it. gently wipe off with a dam cloth. Dont soak it, as someone told us it smudges into the material. We've not had a problem removing bird poop yet :o)
Bear lake tents are gorgeous!! If you get one...welcome to the 'Lake' family!!
------------- love shopping, love a bargain even more!
thanks for that folks, well we got one, its 18 months old, we pitched it saturday, and we are all delighted, it oozes quality, much better in our humble opinion than our cabanon, if cabanons had a zig, then maybe it would be a different story, thanks, gary
yey!! Good choice....even if i do sound a bit biased!! We love ours. Easy to put up (after a few goes!!) and it's cooler in warm weather and warmer in the cool weather. Doesn't rustle in the wind and, like you say oozes quality!! Only advice i would give to you is, the tention poles on the side.....take some masking tape to cover the knobbly bit, when feeding in the netted sides...that way, it doesnt get caught and the netted bit wont rip x
Happy camping!!
