Tracey, what an awesome thing to collect, wicker baskets :) That must take up some space! But what a pretty storage medium :) If I find any others laying about I will get in touch
That is so kind of you to offer Ness, but don't go to any trouble. I have a passion for all things Colonial, so the wicker baskets are just one of my many ‘wicker’ collections. I do love old fashioned picnics though, so they do get used and looked after, but yes some are for storage (mostly to house my ‘other’ collections )
It must be both exciting and daunting to do what you are doing, but I notice in your signature you say 'back home to Australia' so that must make it so much easier - a bit like going home after a holiday (but a holiday with crappy weather which must ease the burden )
Tracy I was thinking the same thing about the wicker basket! Would have loved that!
Well done for 'freecycling' your stuff Scubabe, and good luck with the move!
It's actually a really cruddy situation which I am very sad about, my marriage has ended :( However, I am looking forward to getting back to a country with more reliable weather so that when I book a camping trip 3-6 months in advance, I will have a pretty fair idea that the weather will still be passable (rather than the downpours I seem to constantly get here!). It will be good to have my friends and family around me as well - nobody gives a hug like family does, and I am in need of many of those right now!
I am taking my BL6 back with me (that reminds me, I must clean every last trace of soil off the poles & groundsheet so it will pass the quarantine inspection!), and my brand-new-still-unused Nevada M which I got in the Go Outdoors sale on Boxing Day, so at least I will have some good tents to take home. Am considering buying a small canvas Bell Tent to take with me but don't think the funds will stretch quite that far sadly :(
Once I've had my last camping trip in this country I will have more stuff to give away (e.g. suitcase stoves and fuel cans etc - stuff which I either can't ship or which isn't worth the cost for me to ship) so I will post a similar thread at the end of July when the packing begins in ernest.
------------- 2011 plans:
April - Exmoor 11 nights
May - Brynawelon, Wales 3 nights
July - Rendlesham Forest 4 nights
Then I am off back home to Australia, where the weather is always perfect for camping :)
Just a thought I live very near Rendlesham forest which I see is your last camping trip in this country?. If you have any camping gear that you won't be taking to Oz with you and yr wanting to give away. I could meet you at the end of yr trip before you de-camp and save you the efforts of packing/unpacking ect.
So wish i had seen this thread earlier as i live in OX12 too & would have been interested, but so glad you have been able to help others out on the forum.
I will keep an eye out for your future posts.
So sorry to hear your reasons for having to get rid of some equipment.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
