Thank you for all the tent advice, I think will go for the Vango Icarus 500/600, trawling e bay and ads on here too.
Next question!! We need ,mattress recomendations, due to old back injuries this is really important. I run the risk of waking up and not being able to move!!!!
Next dumb question,, how do SIM's work. Do you need to plug them in?
We will definatly have electric hook up as can't cope without a heater!!
Everything esle is very much on a budget, but am not willing to skimp on a mattress as being in pain is not worth it.
I have back problems, we have airbeds and to be honest they much better for me than my bed. Im not sure about sim as i dont use them.
We have ehu all the time if we can.

Looking Forward To Going Camping At The End Of June
This is a much asked question as a search will prove, but I always give a shout for the "ThermaRest DreamTime XL" more of a sleep system than just a SIM.
We use two, fastened tgether with there own embedded straps, this makes for QueenSize bed, for our fortnight campings in the South of France duing July.
The downsides are huge pack size, and price to match, but worth it imho for the comfort they give.
SIMs are self inflating you undoe the stopper and they inflate themselves as the foam absorbs the air, if you then want them a little harder the a couple of extra puffs by mouth usually suffices. They come in a range of thicknesses from around 25mm up to 100mm

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Tescos have double height airbeds which have a pump built in - they're fab, me and hubby have got one each (we prefer 2 singles to a double when camping)
I went and bought the 2nd one yesterday expecting to pay £35 but when I got to the checkout it was only £23.33!
They do double ones too for £45, I don't know if they're reduced too at the mo

I always recommend the Coleman Comfort air beds. The double has 2 sides which inflate independently of each other. You can have it inflated as hard as you like, and you do not bounce about like other double mattresses when your partner moves in the night. They are not double height though.
I find it as comfortable as my mattress at home, and I also suffer from a bad back and neck. We use an electric pump to inflate it.
we use a aerobed double height bed and find it more comfortable than our mattress at home. ours came with a mains pump but we also bought a re-chargeable version from argos that just about manages to inflate the bed hard enough although it can be plugged into 12volt car lighter socket that gives more power.
we have almost everything, self inflating mats, i must admit i always put some more air in once they have inflated themselves, airbeds and those metal frame beds. the most comfy for me has got to be the airbeds, as long as you don't under or over inflate them! if under your hips touch the floor and if over there is no 'give' so they are too hard. the metal ones are ok for a couple of nights but any longer and you wake up stiff as a board. as long as you put a car rug or something under the air bed so the cold doesn't penetrate, this, for me is the best way to go.
I use an areobed, which has been pretty good, last trip away I added a memory foam topper (1inch/5cm thickness) which made it heaven! I actually slept a lot better than at home and even had no back ache at all (something I do get at home!) The other benefit was the topper acted to prevent the warmth escaping into the airbed so I was also lovely and warm
