Don't worry, I think many of us do it some time or another, myself included. There is such a wealth of information on here sometimes you don't spot something staring you in the face. The search feature is always worth trying first too as your topic may have already been discussed and there's never any harm in bringing it back to the top of the list if you have something to ask / say.

Please feel free to ask if anything is still unclear about the hook up.

Check this out first.

Very basically, you initially need to buy an EHU lead with the protected sockets as described. They do come in different designs such as having the sockets in a triangle instead of in line but whichever design you buy you must make sure it has the proper trip switches.

They usually have 20 metres of orange cable which is plenty for most sites. I wouldn't buy anything with a shorter cable than that though.

All you do when you get to the site is make sure the sockets end is inside the tent and kept in a dry place off the ground then run the lead outside the tent to the nearest supply pillar to the pitch and plug it in. Make sure, no matter how near the supply pillar is, that you run all the cable out and don't leave it on a reel or drum as this can cause the cable to overheat. Obviously make sure the cable doesn't cause a trip hazard...run it behind the tent where nobody would usually be walking.

I am sure you will have lots more questions but hope that helps initially

They should stick that on the sticky thread.

I'm an electrician & I couldn't have put it better myself.
