Its Thursday night and I still haven't decided whether to go away tomorrow or not!
I havent been away in the tent yet and am gonna do a dummy run in the morning on the nearby field, i've booked my strapping male friend to stand by in case I need him, as I shall be putting the tent up on my own on the day...
It will be just me and the boys (my 2 labs) in the tent but I want it to be that way first as I think if I do the first trip with the kids in tow it will be hell!
My options are.....
Go to the site tomorrow whilst the kids are at school and set up (its only half hour or so away) which will give me plenty of time to get set up, come home, take the kids to their dads, come home, pick up the boys and go to the campsite (will get there around 8.30pm but tent will be all set up and means I get 2 nights away... If I did this I could get the strapping friend to do the real thing with me at the campsite that day rather than the dummy run on the field...
Alternatively I can go Saturday morning, spend the day there and one night there, home on Sunday...
I know I should just do one night but I get the feeling I will wish I had stayed 2 nights on Sunday morning!
On the other hand I think me n the kids are going next weekend so isn't like I will have to wait ages to go again...
God I am terrible at making decisions!!! You should have seen me buying a pram when I was pregnant!
ANy thoughts? (please be gentle, I know I am a bit of a numpty and am tired!
Oh, and if you can recommend any dog friendly sited within an hour of hull which have HUGE pitches with EHU that would be great . I have rang a few but not booked as of yet as they said to just turn up....
I would say go, book the 2 nights (you usually don't lose much if you come home early anyway) and have lots of fun!! You've said your children are going to their dad's so they're being looked after. At least that way you can practise getting the tent up so when you go with the kids the week after, you'll look like an expert!!

Your idea of setting up while the kids are at school, plus the strapping friend to help sounds good to me, as once you have set up and done the running round, know the kids are settled, returning to the tent all set up with your boys I believe will be so relaxing.
Ah, go for the two nights. Having a full day there without having to set up or pack up makes a big difference. Friday night's likely to be wet, but after that passes over the weekend's supposed to be quite hot, so you'll experience a wide variety of weather and see how you and the tent (and the boys) cope with it! Have fun!

Definitely the two nights, especially if you can arrive early and leave later on Sunday.
I did similar myself last year due to lunchtime and evening work commitments - booked a site only 40 minutes drive from home, arrived at 9am on the Friday morning, set up my drive-away awning and came back home again. Then when I left work at 7pm I went straight back and was there before 8pm without having to set anything up when I got there. And being able to leave later on the Sunday meant I had two full days and a really good break.

There's a site at Burton Fleming very near Brid, so great for the kids, pitches as large as you want, dog friendly including their Very large black lab. It's Bobbybees caravan site. One field as you enter is vans, but two other fields with tents. It's a bit on the rustic side, but I love it. or Wold farm on the cliffs nr Bempton, but you would have to confirm your dogs will be ok. They do accept dogs, but they must be well behaved. I camped their with my springer last year, £10 per pitch but that is for up to three people. Oh yes, def TWO nights
I would offer to come and help pitch at either of the above sites, but I won't be home till about six this evening. Offers there if that's any help OOPS, just noticed you wanted EHU, not an option at the two I mentioned. So Burton Constable would be ok with EHU and playground next to tent area.

Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
Well me n the boys have just had our first night in the tent!
Me n my friend put the tent up with no problems at all, it has to be said. that the Kalahari 10 is FANTASTIC!
The.boys are loving it and have been good as gold, if but a bit giddy. They have thrown the odd woof at strange noises and thought it was fab running into thw tent and skidding along the groundsheet (something which I am trying to get them out of) but yeah, fab!
Just about to tire them out on brid beach!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
