We are relatively new to camping and have a Vango Tigris 600. We have only camped once and used the standard pegs that came with the tent but I wondered if these would be any good in very soft ground and windy conditions
Please can anyone recommend some good universal tent pegs and where to get them at a good price from please! xx
Just an update - saw the thread about delta ground anchors and have bought 14 which should be enough for the tent and the odd spare
Should I use the ordinary steel pins for the pin & ring (actual tent) fix and the delta's just for the guy ropes?
Yes, use the v-shaped pegs for the black webbing and d-ring at the ends of the tunnel, pin pegs on the orange shock-cord loops (and through the metal rings if you wish). Save the delta pegs for the main guys (primarily those that come off the poles and seams). The guys on the window and vent flaps aren't so important.
I keep a load of the steel pegs, a good handful of the wide plastic ones and a selection of rock pegs. Just take a selection and use the ones most suitable for the ground. I may get around to buying some Deltas one day.

Rock pegs are good for hard ground but other than that they act like regular pegs which suffer from the effect of maximum leverage and only having a minimal surface area to resist tension. I wonder if you'd be better off double pegging with pegs that come with the tent?

Delta Ground Anchors..the strongest, most secure tent pegs in the world! Nylon anchors twice as efficient as rock pegs in 'average' soil! Quality stainless pegs for tougher soil are available.
We have a mixture - the pegs that came with the tent, deltas for the guy ropes, and we've got some rock pegs now for hard soil. We've also got some v shaped pegs, I think they're for soft sandy soil?
Fingers crossed we've got all eventualities covered now!
