I'm more concerned with how my tent is looking!
Yes :) I looked in the mirror last time we got home and realised it was the first time I had looked in one all weekend....not a pretty sight! Kids were even worse, but we don't worry about that.
Reading this thread, I think the conclusion for the original poster is that she's not the only "girly girl" on here, but she is definitely in the minority.
We tend to do something during the day, so no way am i going off campsite without looking like me, nothing wrong with taking pride in your appearance.
As much as I love camping I can't do the hairy legged hippy thing would never even consider having my hair in a pony tail *ssshhhhhuuuddderrr*, I will put it up though, but nicely, takes an extra 15 minutes in the morning to make me look like me, but whats 15 minutes when camping.
------------- I'm working class, I do what I have to do, to get by.
I am a girly girl and wont leave the house at home without make up and hair tidy. When camping/or any holiday I loosen up a bit as I wont wear make up in the sun and when I have a tan I only need tinted moisturiser, some bronzer and mascara. Also take a clip and french pleat hair, as no amount of GHD straightners will help once the humidity turns my hair into worzel gummage. I do wear dresses too although have invested in some funky hoodies for cooler evenings. You may feel like letting go, but when you cannot bear to look at any of the holiday snaps then there can be no price on fitting in a little extra, or finding some time to look more presentable. This is obviously a personal thing and a lot of people seem happy with the way they look au naturelle..... I am however not one of these people ;-) lol x
------------- Cath - Cinderella is living proof that shoes can change your life!
When I first started reading this post I thought no,am not a girly girl (40+),but then I wear dresses/skirts(maxi) and like a little bit of make up when am camping (if am going somewhere) but I dont take hairdryer/straighteners,I love my flip flops and I chuck my hair into a ponytail if its misbehaving...so yes,I am a bit of a girly girl and you're obviously not alone....oh and I always have to wear something pink (no idea why)
------------- March- Padstow
April- Forest Glade
June-Grizedale
July-Jedburgh
and lots more besides
I do take make up with me, dont know why as i very rarely use it at home unless i am out for the evening, try to wear dresses and skirts, but not really practical with 4 boys who want mom to join in the rough and tumble, so leggings and colourful hoodies are usually the norm. Do have long hair but it spends most of its time in a ponytail or in a clip.
------------- Student nurse and mum to 1 dd at uni and 4 ds's who live with me when there is food in the cupboards!
Zeelee , You ain't seen My washing line have you lol. Pinks,Purple, Red Jade,Green I never wear Black ( Apart from Boot Shoes for work) and not keen on beige lol
------------- A Stranger is a Friend you do not know yet
I'm a 60+ girlie-girl! Also new to camping as of last year 2010. Always laughed off suggestions to go camping by saying " where would I plug in my straighteners?". But, having decided to take the plunge late in life to camp in a tent I have to say my husband (he' a sweetie) ensures we have all our mod-cons with electric hook-up. so we take hairdryer, straighteners, Sat.T.V., oven, multi-cooker, vacuum cleaner for the carpets & inflating/deflatings bed & space-bags, fridge, lighting, fan heater/cooler, along with our netbook & Kindle.
Have just spent 3 weeks in The Dordogne with no hardship & feel totally relaxed.(But it was too hot to wear make-up.) We were the "Silver Surfers" on tour!

I cant live without my GHD`s, hair looks like a scruffy poodle otherwise! Not always too worried about makeup tho x
Is it just me but after a day or so I look in the mirror and think wow, my complexion is wonderful, the outdoors is doing my skin so much good and little tan to boot ... then the next time I look again it's Oh my god!!! What happened to me, I'm oily and spotty and broken out in red bits! Don't mind though!
Wash, clean teeth, brush hair and a bit of moisturiser. If I've had a shower then if there is a hairdrier I might dry my hair a bit (as it takes ages to dry otherwise as its longish). This is the same routine as at home!
But would many girly girls spend their hours browsing a camping forum - mmmmh?! My husband is a greate camper but wouldn't dream of spending time on here. He's too busy with other hobbies - so may be there are more girly girl campers out there than you'd think by responses to this thread. Now if you asked the same question on such as mumsnet.com....
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
