Arrived on Monday for a 5 day trip to carnoustie. Had to leave Tuesday afternoon when weather broke down and a severe weather warning was put out by the met office for rain wednesday and Thursday and thunder and lightning Friday!! Went to Scone a couple of weeks ago and had to hold the tent up during a thunder and lightning storm!!
Bad luck. We're at lakeland haven, flookbrough and it was mad hot monday when we arrived, rained 90% of tuesday and met office said rain and thunderstorms on wed thur and friday.
I'm now sitting in a pair of shorts in 20+ deg sunshine with blue skies
Motto of the story, take the rough with the smooth and don't listen to the met office

I know what your saying but im glad we came back as has been raining most of the day up here again! Going to try go back sunday as really lovely site, here's hopeing.
Well it's been heavy rain most of the day here in the NorthWest, and mid day temps are down to +16DegC, we even had hailstone with one of the downpours.
I do take my hat of to folk who go family camping in the UK, I gave that game up back in 1978, and ever since have gone for our fortnights campings, in the South of France, during July.
In all these years, we have always had brilliant sunshine, and temps of +40DegC, for the whole fortnight, it realy does make the 1000 miles drive from our home to campsite, worth all the effort.

I'd rather stay at home than suffer 40'C heat for a fortnight. Far too hot for me. How can you do anything...hike, cycle, sightsee...in that sort of temperature? My idea of a nice day is about 20'C, overcast but no rain and a bit of a breeze to cool things down a bit.
Fracais' post reminds me of Divers who only dive in the Red Sea or similar conditions compared with those who dive in the UK and accept the conditions as part of Diving.
I've camped in the S.O.F enjoyed it but I also enjoy camping in the UK and the conditions that come with it.

we're in the process of getting the car packed up...had to delay our start as it was pouring down earlier on...thankfully the rain they forecasted for our campsite today seems to have gone elsewhere, so even tho we're a bit behind schedule at least we'll be able to get the tent pitched in dry conditions this afternoon before the next deluge arrives...
