Tomorrow, I should be taking my 4 daughters, plus 2 13 year old camping. The weather forecast isn't great (we're going to Rhandirmwyn, postcode SA20 0NT!) rain tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, dry on Sunday - the day we come home!
We're going for my eldest daughters 14th birthday hence her taking 2 friends with her.
Its absolutely chucking it down here at the moment and if this is what its going to be like for the next few days, then I really don't fancy being stuck in a tent with 6 kids for 3 days!
So, do I just suck it up and go as planned and keep everything crossed, or let a lot of excited kids down and call it off now......

if it were me i'd ask the birthday girl if she still wanted to go after explaining what the weather reports have said and if she still wants to go then i'd suck it up...
the trip, as you said, is basically because of her birthday after all...and you never know, the weather is so changable that it might not turn out quite as bad as predicted...
Go, but take plenty of dry clothes so that they can play out and get wet. Also take load of cheap craft stuff for them to do when in the tent.
At worst and the weatehr is totally horrendous you can always pack up and come home early. But if you don't go and the weather is nice you will be kicking yourself. We've been when it has poured down every day, and just made the best of it between showers. Played out in the rain for some of the time, and played boardgames, coloured etc when inside.
Thanks, there is no way that my daughter would want to call it off, I don't either really, just having a wobble I think!
We've got nintendo's for them all, board games, card games, craft things are a good idea. Think I'll take some paint and we can go collecting pebbles from the nearby footpaths that are alongside a stream!
I am tempted to take the laptop and a few dvd's in case things get really bad (we have EHU!

Good idea with the laptop and DVDs, I think.
Is there anything close to the campsite worth visiting that can be done in bad weather?

Give your daughter the choice, but I'll bet at 14 years old she'll be optimistic the sun will shine at some point, so go enjoy and if it rain put on wellies and sing in the rain, the kids will think your mad but I bet they join in and have a ball.
Enjoy your trip and i hope your daughter has a great birthday.
------------- I'm working class, I do what I have to do, to get by.
Give them the choice, but the way the weather forecast for here has been I'm beginning to wonder what they are talking about!! Today we should have had rain by early-mid morning and we're still waiting!!
That just about sums up July in the UK personally I think you can still have a good time even if the weather isnt that great
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
GO GO GO!!! We have planned so many trips and had grotty forecasts prior to leaving. We have hummed+hawed so many times and nine times out of ten the weather is fine.
Hope your daughter has a lovely birthday whatever you decide.

If you stay as upbeat as possible yes even in the rain it will rub off to a degree with the children. Make it fun ,perhaps you could get them to help with the cooking too and praise praise praise.
Perhaps you could take a bag of Makeup so that they can apply to one another for fun, take loads of pics for us
Geo cache looks great fun too although I haven't tried it myself.
