I am not sure you can guarantee to avoid certain types when you go camping but you can probably narrow the odds by picking the right campsite in the first place. Another option is to go for an unmarked pitch and a small enough tent that gives you the option to drag your tent to the other end of the field if you end up next to some noisy neighbours.

If you like Norwich I found Manor Farm in Cromer to be lovely and I have heard good things about some of the other sites there. Check out the coolcamping website or check out online newspapers for features on the top 50 campsites like this one

Manor Park Farm, Cromer every august, but somewhere different every may/June.
4 years of superior packing yet still no room in the car

Hi, yes I was going to post that link too.

First time camping we were assisted by someone as I had to pitch two tents in blazing sun something I do not wish to do again.

I bought a couple of books that helped

Cool camping : kids

The rough guide to camping in Britain

Of course the main resource is this site for me now, we prefer unmarked pitches as you can be a little more flexible with space and it is possible to evade who/what may look like trouble.

We have been lucky enough with all our camp sites, you will too hang in there it is a fantastic experience with your children.

Now I know I'll pobably get some flak for this (I can take it, I'm fairly thick-skinned! lol) but with the exception of Jam_Man there's one thing which stands out in all these posts, and on other threads on the same subject - why does no-one complain at the time?? It's all very well coming on here and posting about unruly kids/loud music/drunken shouting etc, but if it bothers you that much then ffs complain about it and get something done!!

Regarding the op, in relation to the kids I would first complain to the parents and if nothing was done then complain to the management. With the toilets not being cleaned I would go straight to the management, and complain more than once if necessary.

In fourteen years of camping I've only twice had to make a complaint. The first time was at a site on Anglesey where a group of four families pitched near us decided to play loud music constantly from 2pm - we could tolerate it during the day and even into the evening but by 1am it had got too much so my ex went to complain to the warden, who wasn't very happy about being dragged out of his bed at that time. He came straight over, told the other campers to keep quiet and also ordered them to be off the site first thing the following morning - they went, and peace returned.

The second time was at my favourite site in Norfolk, two families arrived on the camping field and within ten minutes of pitching their tents out from the back of their van came four of those mini motorbikes which their kids proceeded to roar round the field on. Now I'm not against kids having fun but aside from the fact that things like that aren't allowed on site anyway, after an hour it got annoying so I went across to the owner's house to complain - within minutes he had gone over and told the families to put the bikes away and we never saw or heard them again after that.

Now maybe this makes me sound like a grumpy old moaning minnie and habitual complainer - far from it, and those members on here who know me will agree - but I won't allow my camping breaks to be spoilt by the thoughtless actions of others when a word in the right ear will sort things out. Maybe if everyone else on here complained at the time, and a few more wardens were dragged from their beds at stupid o' clock to sort out problems, there would be no need to have threads like this!

I agree Tiger mouse and am comfortable politely confronting the problems, you are right owners / wardens will normally deal with issues quickly.
However I had one occasion on a very popular site in Derbyshire where at 1.30 am after politly asking a party who were entertaining guests on their seasonal pitch, in the awning while watching MTV on their cinema style(50+ inch )surround sound TV, I was growled at to **** ****, I didn't and proceeded to verbally education in manners. I had given up trying to contact the warden where no reply came from the contact number, the next morning at 8am when I went to knock them up, they had gone home. When I apologised to other campers for any disturbance I was thanked for bringing quiet to the site. (either that or they were avoiding a lecture)

Because of reading this site and agreeing with most opinions i presumed all campers were friendly and considerate to others how wrong i was

Ah, but that's only the case if they're a member on here!

I am with Tigermouse, it seems a trend on here lately to have a crap holiday then come on here and moan without every making an official complaint, I appreciate not many like confrontation but for Gods sake at least write a letter or email them when you get home, If you dont then all thats going to happen is someone elses holiday is going to spoilt.

And as for people complaining about Haven sites ..... Its haven what did you expect lol we stayed close to a haven site once and decided to take the kids there one day just to have a play on the amusements etc.... How on earth people enjoy that is beyond me !!! its like chav central.

So in answer to OP ... You have the right type of holiday just the wrong location, dont give up just research more and try again

Some would still moan lol theres as many on here like the loud site as do the quiet, some destest kids on sites, some hate dogs on sites, then you have the ehu or non ehu brigade, the bbq haters, the music lovers and haters, the ones who think they are better cos they have a caravan and the ones who thing only tents are proper camping

Oh and dont forget the buggers that turn up with generators and leave them running 24/7

It would have to be a bloody big field with a lot of hedges to separate us all

It's sad but it happens all too often in all walks of life, my wife and I are lucky that we are able to visit sites Monday to Friday during school time very rarely do we go to a site at weekends, and during the summer months tend to go for adult only sites but even then there are no guarantees.
