What's the best way of cleaning birds' little gifts from the tent? I'm wary incase some types of detergent have a detirmental effect on its waterproofness.
Let it dry and brush it off. If you start rubbing it then you just rub it in more. If there's still a mark after brushing then sponge with plain water. You're right, some detergents can damage the waterproofing. As to babywipes and other household cleaning materials just don't. They're not made for tents.

We've used baby wipes on a regular basis on both our tents and can honestly say they've never done any harm, I wouldn't have suggested it otherwise.
