I use a small travel kettle inside my tent and it doesn't give off much steam, so not much likelihood of it damaging anything. However, obviously keep any heat away from the walls of the tent (or the roof if it is a small tent) and steaming kettles and things inside tents can cause condensation if used a lot so you need all your vent flaps open.
Not a small tent gelert vector 8 for 2 of us and a small yorkie.
Use 1 side for our bedroom and the other side split in 2 one for toilet and washroom and the other for storage which is where we could boil a kettle in the evening.
