We did it. And I hold my hands up and say it was my idea.
We've got a trailer tent. Not only have we bought it, but we're in it. Minus awning cause OH managed to break the awning zip.
And I'm ashamed to say that I love it. It's canvas. It's warm. It's cosy.
BUT IT'S NOT MY TENT. I feel like I should be handed it back, just like its been hired. Have dark forces took over my camping soul or am I just getting too old ( at 44 ) to tour with a family and tent. 2 days here and 3 days there. You know the next progressive step, don't you !!!!
Be warned..........

You're still under canvas, so therefore you're still 'camping'. If your reason for buying a tt is age related at only 44, just beware that you'll probably buy a tin shed on wheels by the age of 50 Now that WILL be the dark side

Lmao at Duffs. That made me laugh do much.
Well that's our first night over. No leaks that I can tell of so far. I must say that last night was one of the best nights sleep I've had in ages.
Rain, rain oh yeah and more rain all night, I'd forgotten how it sounded on canvas rather than poly.
Now to fashion a tarp so I don't get totally soaked cooking breakfast. Luckily there's one hell of a groundsheet for the awning.

No a trailer tent is not the dark side. We have just won one on Ebay. We had them before and the are just large frame tents in their own trailer.
I am still hPpt with an ordinary tent, but Richard can not get up off the floor. Although I am happy to go without him Alice wants to her dad to be able to come with us at least once.
We even had a folding camper for a few years, but it was too small sleeping wise, and needed loads of attention.
It's not your unit that is important, but the way you view camping. You can sit outside hour massive double axle caravan and be sociable go your fellow campers or have a tiny tent and treat campers who dare to do differently with disdain just as easily as vice versa.

So very true. Couldn't agree more.

next thing you will be getting a folding camper, which is the way we went, even more luxury,so nice, but we have just bought a second hand tent for the occasional day/weekend when taking the camper is just not worth it

Actually. We were thinking of a Conway jayco laser. Wind up type. But the woman never got back to me.

If I wasn't on my own I think I could be tempted by a trailer tent - further for the 'orrible little slugs to climb, for one thing! Less crawling around, too, which is becoming harder as time goes on. For short breaks I still take the trusty old Peakland Monsall; with the larger Vango I'd want to be staying a few days in the same place. But a trailer tent - well, best of both worlds, I reckon! Have fun - and I hope you get the awning zip fixed.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
