last year we bought a go sold as seen ex display maritsa 700 ( i know please dont kill me for buying an ex display). We used it for the first time at the jubilee weekend and we loved the tent but we had a few leeks on the floor ( dont know if it was cause i never pitched it correctly or if the ground was too uneven ). Now the next bit is funny now but wasnt at the time the wife had to make a mad dash for our special needs lad and managed to trip and fell right through the fly screen on the dividing door it has another door on it but this now needs to beclosed not allowing the breeze to come in . now the wife has said as we go on our 2 week hols in 2 weeks time she wants to replace the tent with a brand new one she wants the maritsa , but i am worried after reading a few reviews is this down to being an ex display or is it down to the vango build quality as of late and is a new tent going to be the same. I have seen the outwell vermont xlp which is the same style but if we get this i will not be able to afford the carpet footprint and extension which i have for the maritsa im in a total dilemma what would you do
Does the fabric of the tent feel hard and brittle, rather than soft and silky? If so, it may have reached its UV limit, in which case yes you will be better off replacing it. Do you know how long it was pitched for? I know our nevada has a UV limit of about 16 weeks.
what my real worries are both tents are very same but i dont want to get away for 2 weeks to find that both tents are faulty as i will not be able to test pitch till we are on the camp site
and also is the vermont worth all the extra cost as outwells build quality is getting bad press at moment
It could be possible that the Martisa is a 2010 they were terrible for leaking
As with the uv factor it would need constant strong sun to cause damage quickly .

Did you pitch it over a footprint? If you get rainwater between a footprint and the tent then it can often be forced through any stitching in the groundsheet as you walk across the tent.
Personally I wouldn't be stumping up a for a new tent, repair or get the mesh repaired, work out how/where it is leaking or if it's condensation and then seam seal or whatever is needed.
Mmmmmm, this may be a tricky one, have recently bought a Maritsa 700, is yours the 2011/2012? our first go (weekend torrential rain in W Sussex) woke to puddles in every angle where poles go into ring pin system, we also had huge amounts of trouble erecting the tent, as the tension straps not long enough, hence was sent back...Did you find this problem putting it up?? (Will get round to write a full review) However we did get replacement...we put it up in Mum in laws garden, alas no rain. we have just returned from yet another weekend, didnt rain but woke to condensation dripping in my face!! But did have extra people in tent (4 adults & 3 children) Maybe tension to tight at seems, make sure you loosen straps, or if you have heaters/ cooking going on to try an air the tent and make sure all vents open. As for mesh not sure, sorry
Have a look for the Tent Spares website. Rather than going out and buying a new tent. Have a good look at the groundsheet for small tears or any holes, then use ducktape to seal them.
I've never really taken the UV ray thing too seriously as i've been using one of my tents in all weathers for about 15 years. Its a Sunncamp Calypso tent and its synthetic, not canvas. There's a lot more than just the UV rays to consider. How and where it is stored is very important too.

If the mesh door is an inside door I wouldn't hesitate to try and fix it,mosquito netting and a needle and thread,duct tape and seam sealant for any other problems. If the mesh door is an outer one,I would be still fixing it! The money you save could get your wife some roller skates to catch your youngster a bit quicker...before he gets to the door!

Do you really need to keep the outer door closed? Our 2009 Vango Kura didn't have any mesh doors at all and neither does our current trailer tent. We did have them on our Icarus 600's but never used the one on the front door as it was such a pain to keep rolling up.
We just hang up one of these or a light a citronella candle if we start getting insects in.

now i will admit this was also one of the things i thought about as on the day of leaving the footprint was soaked and had alot of surface water on it

yes we use it to keep our little dog in but able to see out and watch the kids
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
