We've not done any camping this year due to the weather :( We are hoping for 7 days at the end of this month to the Water Leisure Park in Skegness, so everything is crossed the weather will improve by then.
You're going to the Water Park and don't want to get wet!
We've been off twice this year, had rain and shine but never got wet. Looking at a few days off next week, but doing a check on the Lady Heyes site with a friend on Thursday (just a day trip).
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
I can understand where you are coming from. For years we would hire a static, a couple of times a year. Once my daughter hit 11 she really really felt she was missing out on a *proper* holiday. So we started going abroad.
Funny thing is, when we reminisce, it is always our Wales trips that the kids remember, not days around a pool!
However, as it is yet again hissing down tonight, I do wonder how families cope camping in this deluge. Think lots of wet coats etc must be quite an endurance on a parents patience!
We found it a challenge last week dealing with the mud and wet, hence we are going to upsize to a tent with a very large, integeral porch, & much more space inside. Fingers crossed this will make it much more comfortable in misserable weather. We do not have any children to entertain either, which is a plus
And yes, last year we were camping in hot hot weather, 82c, & errr we did complain it was too hot in the tent....oh the shame!!
Well the forecasters are genuinely sounding optimistic about improvement. The jet stream is starting to move northwards so good chance that next week we will start to see some proper summer weather.
We've had 2 whole days without any rain down here and today we had high temperatures of 24+. NEXT WEEK, however it's going to be sunny and warm, with NO RAIN FORECAST
Hopefully the forecasters are right, and we are going to get some nice weather - which for those of us who have barely had more than a day without rain, it will be a welcome relief.
So many local events have been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
We are hoping for a dry weekend as we have booked a pitch half an hour away so that we can sort the trailer tent out - put some stuff in etc. for when we go away in August.
Would dearly love some nice weather then, as it was so bad when we went in June that we had to come home early. Now I am not a fair weather camper - but when the wind is ripping your pegs out faster than you can knock them in, and the most you have had is an hour's break from torrential rain in two days with the forecast saying that it is going to get worse that is when you call it a day.
For many of us, hoping on a ferry over to France is not an easy option as we have a day's drive to a ferry port.

I'm entirely with you on this one. When you work long hours in a stressful job and a lot of it in an office with no natural daylight a bit of nice weather throughout an entire summer isnt asking for much. When it pours solid for a full week, as did for us last week it can be very depressing. I am not a fair weather camper either but am really hankering for some heat or at least sun. Our normal 3+weeks holiday isnt happrning this year due to other commitments and given we are a full day just to get to Dover and the same back our holiday would be even shorter without the long drive through France. Even without other commitments I cant justify spending hundreds of pounds in deisel (last year it was over £600) for guaranteed sun to cram in less than 2 weeks holiday. Norfolk it is, and fingers, legs and eyes are all crossed!
we have looked at the weather for August on AccuWeather.com as going to IOW and its forcast sunshine from the 2nd Aug onwards so far and 19 - 23 degrees
I hope it does not change much from this but never mind if it does we will still have a good tme
