I was having a mooch on Ebay this morning and ended up looking at tents, as you do , I came across a frame tent listed locally to me on a buy it now for £15, now that doesn't happen very often, you get very few listed cheaply near me and I got a bit excited.
The trouble was the only picture was of a 'similar' tent with the description being that the one for sale was 4 berth, orange & grey with flowery curtains.
Hmm, what to do?
I emailed the seller to ask for any more details, but i'm too impatient, so I made a quick phone call to OH to ask his opinion, go for it, he says, you know you want to.....so I did
Am I mad....probably, i'll find out tonight when I collect it
Well i'm thinking if nothing else we'll end up with lots of spare poles and some canvas to make bags & stuff, but hopefully we'll end up with a usable tent.
been there and its a tuff one, do i , don't i, mmmmm...
well i bid on a bargain 6 berth frame tent and i lost out to the highest bidder, so in the gloom of the lost tent i went back on a bid on a second 4 berth frame tent, and i won, canvas tent in a bag, no other photos........
a few hours later i got an email from the seller of the first tent, who had been messed about by the highest bidder, did i want to but his canvas tent
don't tell the OH but thats what I did, i bought both, oops, could of been worse one was fab the other needed a new bedroom inner, wasn't bad haul for 45 quid, in total
Well we got it....and it's a Marechal Eurogrande Super 6, not orange and grey, but orange and cream with lovely flowery curtains
It's a bit grubby and faded and I can see why they thought the cream was grey, it needs a couple of minor repairs, about 6 or so inches of mudflap needs unpicking and restitching, someone has attempted it in the past but made a bad job of it and with blue cotton , the middle stub canopy pocket is worn and needs reinforcing and about an inch of stitching is coming loose on the front corner. We haven't had chance to check all the poles yet, hopefully none are missing!
The only real problem so far is it's too big! It was advertised as four berth but it's 6, I was looking for something smaller really so once we've got it up and checked it over properly we'll give it a clean and a bit of TLC then decide what we're doing with it
