We pitched our new tent (Vango Samara 600) last night for the first time. How exciting! I say it's the first, we pitched it when we first got it earlier this year in the garden only to find that Ebay bargain was missing a set of poles. The company sent us the missing poles with no hassle.

Not having had a tunnel tent before, it's going to take a little bit of getting used to pitching wise I think and getting ourselves organised better with pegging it out.

But opps! The tent fills half the boot on the Volvo estate, leaving not much room for important stuff like sleeping bags, clothes etc. We'll have to see how we get on with that!

I'll post picture after the weekend.

We,ve tried different ways of pitching a tunnel tent, ( cracked a few poles in the process, mainly in windy conditions )  but find the best is pegging down at one end and working way along, person each side, then pulling into place.

We ended up with a trailer as tent took up quite a bit of space like you say.

Enjoy your new tent

Thanks for the tips, our other tents are all domes. We'll try pegging down one end next time.

We've got a roof rack which will go on 1 of 2 our classic cars, not sure it would go on the American one or on the Volvo. Hubby's not keen on the trailer idea, but I'll work on him...

We were laughing last night with friends how much stuff we all take with us nowadays. Tiny tents, no airbeds etc..

Try looking on youtube at different pitching videos. Cross camping have one on there pitching a Kampa filey 6. Its pretty much done single handedly - I've actually just tried this method in pitching our new Delaware 5 in the garden. Did it all on my own and managed it in about 30 mins or so.

enjoy

I can confirm the new tent doesn't leak! It's a bit light in the bedroom pods, but that's not a major problem. Really impressed by the amount of space in the living area and it's got windows! Our Sunncamp didn't and I hated that being a nosey bag that I am.

This weekend was one of those mad ones where we ended up get triple booked! We'd arranged to camp with friends at our local scout camp as we've got a Beaver Scout sports day today and yesterday our 2 lids were at a Cub-Scout fun day so staying over night meant they were there early to help get set up. Then we got invited to a friends 50th Birthday, so popped home last night for a friends birthday party and I've been told on Facebook that we have a squatter in there last night! It's ok, a friend borrowed it last night so he didn't have to put his tent up! He now wants one.
