Works both ways.. although it may rile you, for the sake of your holiday its probably best to try to make friends with the offending party. If their kids keep running through your pitch then stepping out and greeting them, or joining in when their football heads towards your tent then they are more likely to be made aware that they are in your space. You might find they are more polite when they run past next time, and if nothing else their parents might call them back because some weirdo is talking to them. The most irritating campers to me are the ones who fence off huge areas and block the shortcuts with territorial dogs who should never have been brought to a public area (which is what a campsite is). However I appreciate this is just me.. and it would probably make for a less stressful experience if I went and said hello to the people, gave the dog a biscuit and complemented them on their survival skills. I might even get a free beer :-)

I had a guy last year who's dog when off lead would not listen to him and did exactly what it wanted...Which was not a problem when the dog was up the other end of the beach...

The problem occurred as they were passing(on the beach) and the dog decided to run full pelt from the beach straight into my tent went mad with my two dogs and like a whirrling devrish knocked tables chairs etc over..

This guy walks up the beach...straight past me and my daughter grabs the dog by the scruff of the neck and hauls it out of my tent...Puts a lead on it and strides away to his own pitch...all without uttering a word to me or mine...

To be honest I was more concerned about his treatment of the dog rather than the fact it had come in my tent and was a bit stunned for a momment or two...he headed home with a few well chosen words re his ignorance and totally bad mannered approach to the whole incident...With a few well known Scottish expleitives about his parentage and manhood thrown in as well...

If this had been my dog I would have been all apology and shame re the incident...and would have at least asked permission to enter someones tent be fore going in for the dog...

I'm not one for confrontation straight off the mat...It takes me a while to get my dander up to get to a point where I don't care what happens...But I can tell you I was ready for that guy that day....

Jelboy.

Must say I know I am in the minority but I never understand what all the fuss is about pitches - if someone wants to cross my pitch on site that is fine. Life is too short to worry about issues like this I think.

Totally agree, reading this thread is making me laugh tbh. To put it in perspective i got off a bus today to see a young lad with multiple stab wounds getting put into an ambulance, his attacker was 14.

When i go camping i have never come across anyone with this type of mentality even though reading this thread its seems everyone here is more territorial than the gangs i deal with most days.

Chill out its camping not afganistan..
