right here goes ..Daughter setting up her own camping setup , she going to be on the pitch next to us this summer rather than sharing ours .need advice on which tent please, she would eventually like to be able to take the dog with her so is taking that into consideration for later down the line. She doesn't have that big a car & wouldn't be able to tow a trailer as she only passed her test last year. Think steel poles would be too much weight in the car.but would like at least a four man with awning ? so as somewhere to store wet coats wellies etc must have a sig also .any other things I need to look at ? advice please.

a friend of mine bought one of these Mojave 5 last year. Great tent and decent size. Also porches available with carpet and footprint. There's a eBay seller forever selling seconds and they are forever selling these. Also based in Sheffield so not too far away from you to collect to save on postage. Hope this helps.
I have a Rock 5 from the seller bentondeep mentions. The seller is "alchemisicltd", as said who is based in Sheffield.
The tents sold are faulty/customer returns. Some though are quick fixes such as just needing a reproof, others may be missing poles or bedrooms etc.
Mine was sold as needing a reproof, however under hose pipe testing it kept water out. Though I have another test planned before using it in March.
The tent itself (rock 5 that I have) is a good size for me and a dog, though not actually used for "for real" as of yet.
It is about the same size as the suggested Mojave, though I think a little shorter. The Mojave also allows for the option of not using a sleeping pod, to allow more living space. least I think i am right in saying that.
Although not a 4 berth my favourite small tent is the Outwell Nevada M, not too heavy, 3 poles so easy to put up, nice and bright due to lots of windows, easy to get back into its bag plus all types of accesories available the only downside is its a bit more expensive than it rivals. Lots of reviews in the review section.
The other to consider is the ubiquitous Vango Icarus either the 500 or the 400 which is not quite as tall again lots of reviews in the review section.
No doubt you will get lots more suggestions
Ps The used Mojave 5 tents from the seller referred to on Ebay are sold as "faulty" in their listings not seconds

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
I had a High Gear Gobi 4 for 4 years which was easy to erect by myself...Suited me and the dog...Till the wind caught it one decamp about 2yrs ago snapped several pole sections and ripped the tent up a bit....Still got it...for when one of the kids want to borrow it....

If your daughter is going to camp on her own, a four man tent with an awning will be tough to put up. Does the dog have to have it's own room? My dog sleeps outside.
I can put a five man Icarus up by myself no problem, basically any three pole tunnel tent would do.
I go camping on my own without my two teenagers from time to time so I'm putting a tent up on my own, and I have two dogs to take into consideration (although they're happy to be in a crate at night). I have a few tents to choose from, the Icarus would be my most general purpose, practical 'go to' tent, but I have a quechua 4.2 from decathlon which is a big pop up. I like it a lot, dead easy to put up but can be fun to put away again. The Youtube Videos are a great help.
I also use a vintage ridge tent when I go away alone, it's only got four upright poles, so easy to put up it's unreal. So much easier than threading flexible poles through a sleeve. You can get ridge tents on ebay and look out for real canvas ones, they are very pretty, warmer in cold weather, and cooler in hot weather, and far less noisy in wind as the fabric is so much better quality.
I choose which tent depending on weather conditions and whim, but if I had to decide on just one the Vango Icarus is the most adaptable, has stand up height throughout even in the sleeping area and three poles all the same length so it doesn't matter which sleeve they go through.
Hi there, we've just got a Voyager 6. I pitched it yesterday and love the space. We have a dog aswell and I like that we can use the large bedroom pod and leave the small one at home so there's more space for him.
Cant see why you would have a problem putting up a 3 pole tunnel tent as I can do my Nevada M quite easily on my own so I certainly wouldnt let that put you off.
There are a couple of smaller tents that have open canopies available for them as extras the Kampa Frinton springs to mind and the Kampa Hayling has a small built in front canopy.
Thanks for the advice everyone, did forget to mention that she would never camp on her own (just not with us as a family ) she has a long term boyfriend who also usually comes with us & they would be going it alone. never taken dog before, never been room with a large family in the car & having a springer & a yorkie that constantly yapped would not have been fair on other campers. we have just rescued a dog that is a little more laid back & think would suit the camping lifestyle.
