As our camping trip to Disneyland Paris drew closer, and the weather forecasts looked worst and worst, we took other posters advice, and we began stocking up on various things to keep us warm in the tent... even balaclavas :-) (can't believe that post is still running).
Anyway a few days ago the Wife really wasn't happy with the thought of two crying babies, and her sitting up all night breast feeding one of them in a cold tent. We found another campsite across the river to the one we'd booked where they had "holiday homes". It cost us another £120 on top of what we would've paid, so wasn't breaking the bank.
The next couple of days I checked the temperatures, and it was now showing highs of a balmy 11C, and I began to wonder whether we'd wasted our money.
Today I checked the forecast for Magny Le Hongre (closest place I can find to Jablines).. and for tomorrows forecast for when we arrive it's showing -3, feels like -7!! boy or boy are we both glad we changed our booking now.
Yes sure we face the unknown in terms of what condition the "caravan" will be in, but there's one review on this very website which was very positive, so we can only hope for the best... the main thing is we'll have 2" of insulated panels around us with electric heaters to keep us toasty.
I am genuinely disappointed that we're not going to get to try out our new Vango Airbeam tent, but it'll still get used in the summer.
Guessing now, the balaclava's will now have to be used for bedtime activities when we get back home... still not sure why I've got to leap out of the bathroom and take the missus unaware though? she does come up with some strange ideas
The year Richard had his hand in plaster we rented a chalet. OK I could have put the tent up alone, but we weren't sure about things like being able to use the disabled facilities on site, as he needed help getting showered/dressed etc. With our own bathroom this wasn't a problem.
I don't blame you. We were planning a trip across to France this Easter but the rubbish weather has made us postpone, not just because of the cold but because we were worried about road conditions and it being wet and muddy underfoot / undertent.
Camping in a tin tent is still camping, enjoy your holiday, whichever form it may be.

We hired a van last year for our main 2 week holiday as the weather was so unpredictable. Best thing I did. I took some of the glamp stuff just to make the van a bit more homey and the BBQ if the sun made an appearance (which it did for the first couple of days). Loved it so much we booked again this year. To be honest the campsite we stop at was getting rather expensive, theres no EHU and the toilet block is a bit of a walk away so paying the extra 2 hundred quid for heat, tv, water on tap and toilet and shower across the corridor without getting wet when it rained it was heaven, the van site still had all the amenities and more. Bonus this time is that its cost us less to hire the van this year than it did last year!
Thanks for all the positive comments. just on the mobile typing this under the covers to not wake the wife or baby, but it's time to getthe coffee maker on the go soon anyway, if we're to get to Disney by 8am...
it's minus 1 as I type and am I glad we did this. I'll be leaving a review when we get home but well worth it.
it has to be said that there's not one tent on this site or the one nearby where we usually stay.... here's to a warmer Easter next year :-)
right time to make coffee...
apologies for lack of capitals... pesky phone keyboard
hi, i read your review for the site in paris and was wondering where you usually stayed as you said you would go there with your tent next time due to size of pitches?? we're looking for somewhere for next summer near paris.
