 Two tents sold, all camping furniture comandeered by grown up son and finally 3 way fridge sold........that's it, we are no longer campers, only in my heart.

We started camping as a couple in 1977, had a small caravan when the children were small but actually lived and slept in the awning and only used the caravan to get all the stuff there and cook in!!!

We can no longer manage hammering in tent pegs, it took a while to realise why we both had frozen shoulders all summer!!!!!

So everything has now gone, and we have bought a van. So if you see someone in a very shiney new van looking at your tent, please don't think it's snobbery, it may be me looking over with envy.

After years of experience camping I hope my occasional input on the camping thread will be taken with good heart!!!

Sue and I are 45/58 and only just starting camping! I have been before but this coming weekend will be 2nd time only for Sue - she took to it like a duck to water!

Must confess we will be "fairweather campers" only though

We had to swap if we wanted to carry on camping (!) and we have actually benefitted from it. We started out Easter week-end and have been away 5 week-ends already. We don't weather watch any more. We can also go after work on Friday as we don't have to build in 2 hours when we get there of daylight to put up the tent. We used to go away just to be in the tent, so I have just had to try and find things that we can still experience like ......
