I agree.
We ended up taking everything. Sink, fridge , tv. Literally a house full.
It became a chore more than fun. The first camping trip we had nothing.
2 airbeds. Cheap sleeping bags. A folding picnic table. And a 2 ring cooker wrapped up in a cheap regatta tent. We were freezing but loved every minute.
Oh. And we used to have 2 weekends a month from march till October and a week or two in summer touring.
------------- September 27th. I'm going away. Don't care where. Just going!!!!

The more you take the less you go
We're trying to cut down our kit to increase the number of times we go, and you can see our trips in the signature. We're hoping to add at least another trip in September, but we've got a week non-camping abroad to fit in as well. We don't tend to push the season too far when it is cold, but recently bought warmer sleeping bags to replace the duvet, so who knows?.
We tend to split our breaks up a bit - a week off work may be 2 days one week, then 3 taken later - with weekends that gives us 4 or 5 day breaks. More smaller breaks gets us further afield than makes sense for weekend breaks, and increases the chance of catching some good weather (well that's the theory anyway )
------------- Good times and great adventures await...
We usually do lots of short 2-4 night trips. We are fair weather campers and like to go last minute rather than book a week or two in advance.
Tis year wet plan a 8-10 night trip to Skye and/or Durness but it will be weather dependant.
Also do 1 nighter astronomy camps on Fridays or Saturday nights throughout the Autumn and early Winter. Generally don't camp between November and march but if weather is milder we would go.
In all then we camp about 15-30 nights per year
------------- MAY 2017 - Loch Ken, Scotland
JUNE 2017 - Sango Sands, Durness, Scotland
AUGUST 2017 - Balloch O Dee, Galloway and Invergarry
SEPTEMBER 2017 - three brief trips
OCTOBER 2017 - hopefully one final trip before Halloween
Dave - how was altandhu? We might go there in Sept. if its the one I'm thinking it looks like a fairly new site with nice toilet and facilities block on a croft by the sea? Pub or smokehouse nearby?
We're planning either Skye or Durness (Sango Bay) as the main destination but would like a stop-off option in the Glencoe to Ullapool areas

Only true to a certain extent, you can do both.
We usually do a two week trip with the big tent where we take everything including the kitchem sink, or failing that a two week backpacking trip where we take next to nothing. Interspaced with some long weekends where we take the big tent but with less stuff ontop of weekend back packing or small tent spur of the moment overnighters. It's about having your kit organised, ready to grab at a moments notice, ours is packed away in various boxes and depending on what we are doing depends on which ones come with us. Apart from bedding (we take the quilt with the big tent) and the dogs stuff I don't think our camping gear has any cross over with our household stuff.
We pretty much camp everywhere we go I have always been acamper but had to persuade Luci first with abig tent and all the comforts, that went well so we moved on to backpacking too/
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
