When we had a canvas T.T it always amazed me how 2 camping gas lights warmed up the awning, admittedly with a roof liner. Never used gas heater though wouldn't have liked the thought of all the condensation.
I personally wouldn't use one in a closed up tent but each to their own

Ventilation is key. You should not completely close up the tent. Some people have all their cooking equipment in the tent/porch. The risks are the same.
Hence why people prefer à seperate tent.
If people have youngsters, then EHU would be the safest option.
Just as many people use gas lamps. Extra caution is needed with this item.
I tend to use battery lamps.

was only thinking of using it for an hour or so to warm the tent later in the evening there's just me and the dog most of the time. I will use ehu if I can get one but some sites don't have them especially in the lakes where I do most of my camping. Thanks
I just found this on YouTube, might solve the carbo monoxide problem:

I had just invented a similiar construction in my head - might have become a millionaire, , but as you can see, others had the idea before
It might be possible to build one from a box, some tube and a heater?

I have used mine, when Ihavebeen camping without EHU .
I shall be using it again .Camping either this or next month. Shall be with the dog, using my smaller tent as it will be easier to keep warm.
Those who have died, have done, because of using a BBQ too close to porch, brought it into tent, or using a gas lamp either faulty or incorrectly fitted mantles. Or caravans having gas leaks.
I will advise, is to keep canisters warm and they do lose pressure. I just use mine for an or so. Because i'm out walking or out somewhere in the car. In the evening, I am in bed nice and cosy, reading a book, listening to music, so dont need it.
I wear base layers, fleece lined grasshoppers and a flee e top and a buff wind proof jacket with rain coat, thick socks and boots.
Easier to keep warm han being cold wet and trying to get warm. To arm up its easier and quicker, just take doggy for a walk. End up too hot, I do lol

Exactly, your average gas lamp needs far less ventilation than your average human , whereas a BBQ produces CO however it is burning.
we use ours on mornings and in an eveining to warm tent up thats about it ,wouldnt put it on unattended or while asleep , but saying that i wouldnt with electric either

Chappers, there you go BBQ produce more Cmonoxide. Leaking gas lamps is also deadly, a wrongly fitted canister whether its fire cooker, hose. Same consequences or can cause a fire. It doesn't matter what type of unit is used.

So do I, and a fab sleeping bag. Lockie.
Never have any heating on at night either.
Even with a fan heater, too hot and noisey at night.
It gets switched off. Thats why I don't understand why people have theirs on.
OH thinks I'm so nesh. lolol
I don't recommend gas heaters though, if someone needs heating on all the time. In that case EHU is the route to go.
