I echo what Jelboy said. Crying babies prompt 3 reactions: parents are glad it's not them having to deal with it and think back fondly of when their kids were little, those without who want kids won't mind but they will be doing that thing we all did pre kids of thinking their child won't cry like that because they'll know what to do (ha), and those who don't want kids will be thinking it's awful and be very responsible about their contraceptive arrangements.
I don't know how you are planning to feed your baby, but as well as being brilliantly convenient for travelling of any kind, breast feeding means that if your baby is crying and you don't know why, you just shove a nipple in for instant peace!
In light of my last post, can I just add that...
Firstly, the ear plugs did the job, and the crying baby in the early hours stuff affected very little, nay nothing, when it came to us enjoying our holiday, as a whole.
Secondly, a crying baby in the early hours is so much more preferable than a parent screaming at his/her misbehaving kids... at any time of day.
And thirdly... and this is the clincher... any of us who don't have kids (or as in our case, our kids have grown and flown), and wish to avoid them, have no right to complain about kids, and any related noises, when we have the simple option of going adult only!
So, in view of the OP asking for advice, all I would say is, don't let little digs and jibes from the likes of me (or worse from others) affect your enjoyment, as a family. Even if young 'un does start squawking at 4 am... it's healthy, it's natural, and it's to be expected on a family camp site.
Well, we shall be camping with our 14 month old (at time of going) next month which should be fun.
We managed last summer with her when she was 6 months and her siblings were 19 months and 5 years. Just made sure we kept them warm and entertained. They absolutely loved it.

A big plastic bucket, container or trug to bath babies in is useful (or just to play in outside the tent, if the weather is good!)... as they get older sites with "family" facilities so you can shower together are a god send. Get them used to showering before you go, if they are not already.
We have a phil n teds travel cot which is ultra-compact, light, portable and great when you are pushed for space in a tent. Can't imagine having a full sized travel cot in a tent...
At 6m old our little one was dressed in a short sleeved vest, babygrow, then fleece sleepsuit and in her normal "grobag" which we use at home, then blankets as necessary. We used all of this even in summer, don't underestimate how cold it gets at night. In may we had to put a woolly hat on her and she still woke every hr crying cos it was so cold one night!
A site with a microwave is useful if you have starting weening, to heat up babyfood.
